Download or read book Quality Through Collaboration written by Institute of Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2005-04-24 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Building on the innovative Institute of Medicine reports To Err Is Human and Crossing the Quality Chasm, Quality Through Collaboration: The Future of Rural Health offers a strategy to address the quality challenges in rural communities. Rural America is a vital, diverse component of the American community, representing nearly 20% of the population of the United States. Rural communities are heterogeneous and differ in population density, remoteness from urban areas, and the cultural norms of the regions of which they are a part. As a result, rural communities range in their demographics and environmental, economic, and social characteristics. These differences influence the magnitude and types of health problems these communities face. Quality Through Collaboration: The Future of Rural Health assesses the quality of health care in rural areas and provides a framework for core set of services and essential infrastructure to deliver those services to rural communities. The book recommends: Adopting an integrated approach to addressing both personal and population health needs Establishing a stronger health care quality improvement support structure to assist rural health systems and professionals Enhancing the human resource capacity of health care professionals in rural communities and expanding the preparedness of rural residents to actively engage in improving their health and health care Assuring that rural health care systems are financially stable Investing in an information and communications technology infrastructure It is critical that existing and new resources be deployed strategically, recognizing the need to improve both the quality of individual-level care and the health of rural communities and populations.
Book Synopsis Reflections of Rural Health in North Carolina by : Loretta Dowdy
Download or read book Reflections of Rural Health in North Carolina written by Loretta Dowdy and published by Triple J Publishing. This book was released on 2013-05-01 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story of the original Orange Chatham Comprehensive Health Services-now known as Piedmont Health Services calls to mind the above stated scripture as well as a spiritual that declares: "Look Where He Brought Me From." It is the story of the beginning of an unlikely addition to the existing Health Care System in North Carolina to the outpatient Community Health Care model of Family Doctors, Public Health Departments, Public and Private Clinics. Health Care of quality has historically eluded many of the population that these clinics serve. This delivery system was a gleam of light in the lives of many persons who were falling through the cracks of the existing system due to lack of access funds to pay for access, lack of unreliable transportation and/or availability of services. This program combined agencies of practicing health professionals, students in health professions (Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Health Education, Public Health, Dentistry, Nutrition, and others) in a collaborative effort to meet rural and suburban health care needs. The recording of the history of this program is of most importance. It documents this collaboration of many dedicated people who committed their time, expertise and who believed in what they were doing. These dedicated men and women believed that their service would make a difference and it did indeed.

Book Synopsis Handbook of Research on Leadership and Advocacy for Children and Families in Rural Poverty by : Greene, H. Carol

This book was released on 2020-03-27 with total page 525 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rural poverty encompasses a distinctive deprivation in quality of life related to a lack of educational support and resources as well as unique issues related to geographical, cultural, community, and social isolation. While there have been many studies and accommodations made for the impoverished in urban environments, those impoverished in rural settings have been largely overlooked and passed over by current policy. The Handbook of Research on Leadership and Advocacy for Children and Families in Rural Poverty is an essential scholarly publication that creates awareness and promotes action for the advocacy of children and families in rural poverty and recommends interdisciplinary approaches to support the cognitive, social, and emotional needs of children and families in poverty. Featuring a wide range of topics such as mental health, foster care, and public policy, this book is ideal for academicians, counselors, social workers, mental health professionals, early childhood specialists, school psychologists, administrators, policymakers, researchers, and students.
