This book was released on 2000-04-01 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, we study theoretical and practical aspects of computing methods for mathematical modelling of nonlinear systems. A number of computing techniques are considered, such as methods of operator approximation with any given accuracy; operator interpolation techniques including a non-Lagrange interpolation; methods of system representation subject to constraints associated with concepts of causality, memory and stationarity; methods of system representation with an accuracy that is the best within a given class of models; methods of covariance matrix estimation;methods for low-rank matrix approximations; hybrid methods based on a combination of iterative procedures and best operator approximation; andmethods for information compression and filtering under condition that a filter model should satisfy restrictions associated with causality and different types of memory. As a result, the book represents a blend of new methods in general computational analysis, and specific, but also generic, techniques for study of systems theory ant its particularbranches, such as optimal filtering and information compression.- Best operator approximation,- Non-Lagrange interpolation,- Generic Karhunen-Loeve transform- Generalised low-rank matrix approximation- Optimal data compression- Optimal nonlinear filtering

Download or read book Development of Nonlinear Model for Plug Flow Reactor Process written by Ahmad Akmal Wahamid and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plug Flow Reactor are wildly use in chemical industries. The advantages of PFR reactor is Plug flow reactors have a high volumetric unit conversion and run for long periods of time without maintenance. The control of Plug Flow Reactor process a problem frequently encountered in the chemical industries. Controlling Plug Flow Reactor in chemical industries is very challenging because of the time varying and nonlinear characteristics of the Plug Flow Reactor processes. Nonlinear model of Plug flow reactor (PFR) process model is used to estimate the key unit operation variables when using a continuous tubular reactor to reach a specified output. In this paper gives an overview in selecting the best model in developing a nonlinear model for plug flow reactor. The steps in developing nonlinear model for plug flow reactor are developing of mathematical model in first principal including simulate under steady state and unsteady state condition, validation the mathematical model through an experimental. This model used reaction of ethyl acetate and sodium hydroxide to perform saponification for simulating the behavior of a simple Plug Flow Reactor process in a time. The mathematical model based on first principles is developed then, the model equation is solving in MATLAB environment by doing algorithm for this process. The program for Plug Flow Reactor system is created and this program known as nonlinear fundamental model. Two models were developed in this step in for comparison. The result from the MATLAB simulation program is compared with experimental results which have been selected from two difference method to validate the fundamental model. The result showed that the different between the model and experiment result is around 1-37%. As conclusion, the suitable nonlinear model for PFR system has been developed and analyses have been carried out to check the compatibility of the model.
Book Synopsis Process Modelling and Simulation with Finite Element Methods by : William B. J. Zimmerman
Download or read book Process Modelling and Simulation with Finite Element Methods written by William B. J. Zimmerman and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2004 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a systematic description and case studies of chemical engineering modelling and simulation based on the MATLAB/FEMLAB tools, in support of selected topics in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that require numerical solution of complex balance equations (ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations, nonlinear equations, integro-differential equations). These systems arise naturally in analysis of transport phenomena, process systems, chemical reactions and chemical thermodynamics, and particle rate processes. Templates are given for modelling both state-of-the-art research topics (e.g. microfluidic networks, film drying, multiphase flow, population balance equations) and case studies of commonplace design calculations -- mixed phase reactor design, heat transfer, flowsheet analysis of unit operations, flash distillations, etc. The great strength of this book is that it makes modelling and simulating in the MATLAB/FEMLAB environment approachable to both the novice and the expert modeller.

Book Synopsis Analysis of the Dynamics of the System of Nonlinear Differential Equations Describing a Tubular Reactor by : Busuyi Ojo Adebayo
Download or read book Analysis of the Dynamics of the System of Nonlinear Differential Equations Describing a Tubular Reactor written by Busuyi Ojo Adebayo and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A characterization of the solution(s) of nonlinear boundary value problems (BVPs) arising from a class of chemical reactions occurring in a adiabatic tubular reactor when the mass and thermal Peclet numbers are different is performed. Results show that for large Peclet numbers and activation energy, and for sufficiently small Damkohler number and reactor length, the solution to the BVP is unique. While for small Peclet numbers and activation energy, and for large Damkohler number and reactor length, there exist at least three solutions to the BVP. The conclusion is that the number of solution (s) for the BVP depends on the choice of parameter values. Likewise, the first set of parameter values listed above models the adiabatic plug flow reactor, while the other parameter set models the adiabatic continuous stirred tank reactor.

Book Synopsis Numerical Solution of Nonlinear Boundary Value Problems with Applications by : Milan Kubicek
Download or read book Numerical Solution of Nonlinear Boundary Value Problems with Applications written by Milan Kubicek and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A survey of the development, analysis, and application of numerical techniques in solving nonlinear boundary value problems, this text presents numerical analysis as a working tool for physicists and engineers. Starting with a survey of accomplishments in the field, it explores initial and boundary value problems for ordinary differential equations, linear boundary value problems, and the numerical realization of parametric studies in nonlinear boundary value problems. The authors--Milan Kubicek, Professor at the Prague Institute of Chemical Technology, and Vladimir Hlavacek, Professor at the University of Buffalo--emphasize the description and straightforward application of numerical techniques rather than underlying theory. This approach reflects their extensive experience with the application of diverse numerical algorithms.
