Book Synopsis Noncommutative Stationary Processes by : Rolf Gohm
Download or read book Noncommutative Stationary Processes written by Rolf Gohm and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-01-28 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum probability and the theory of operator algebras are both concerned with the study of noncommutative dynamics. Focusing on stationary processes with discrete-time parameter, this book presents (without many prerequisites) some basic problems of interest to both fields, on topics including extensions and dilations of completely positive maps, Markov property and adaptedness, endomorphisms of operator algebras and the applications arising from the interplay of these themes. Much of the material is new, but many interesting questions are accessible even to the reader equipped only with basic knowledge of quantum probability and operator algebras.

Book Synopsis A Study of Non-Stationary Processes with Their Applications by :
Download or read book A Study of Non-Stationary Processes with Their Applications written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stationary stochastic processes have been very useful in analyzing time series appear in applications. However in many engineering application and economic studies there are number of important time series that are not stationary. Hence several authors have been studied non-stationary processes. Several classes of non-stationary processes such as: (1) Harmonizable processes; (2) Periodically Correlated (PC) processes; (3) Almost Periodically Correlated (PAC) processes; and (4) Correlation Autoregressive (CAR) processes have been introduced and studied. In this project we have studying the non-stationary processes in general and the PC, APC, and CAR processes in particular obtaining several results which either have been published or submitted for publication in refereed journals.

Book Synopsis Attractivity and Bifurcation for Nonautonomous Dynamical Systems by : Martin Rasmussen
Download or read book Attractivity and Bifurcation for Nonautonomous Dynamical Systems written by Martin Rasmussen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-06-08 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although, bifurcation theory of equations with autonomous and periodic time dependence is a major object of research in the study of dynamical systems since decades, the notion of a nonautonomous bifurcation is not yet established. In this book, two different approaches are developed which are based on special definitions of local attractivity and repulsivity. It is shown that these notions lead to nonautonomous Morse decompositions.
Book Synopsis Optimal Transportation Networks by : Marc Bernot
Download or read book Optimal Transportation Networks written by Marc Bernot and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The transportation problem can be formalized as the problem of finding the optimal way to transport a given measure into another with the same mass. In contrast to the Monge-Kantorovitch problem, recent approaches model the branched structure of such supply networks as minima of an energy functional whose essential feature is to favour wide roads. Such a branched structure is observable in ground transportation networks, in draining and irrigation systems, in electrical power supply systems and in natural counterparts such as blood vessels or the branches of trees. These lectures provide mathematical proof of several existence, structure and regularity properties empirically observed in transportation networks. The link with previous discrete physical models of irrigation and erosion models in geomorphology and with discrete telecommunication and transportation models is discussed. It will be mathematically proven that the majority fit in the simple model sketched in this volume.
Book Synopsis A Concise Course on Stochastic Partial Differential Equations by : Claudia Prévôt
Download or read book A Concise Course on Stochastic Partial Differential Equations written by Claudia Prévôt and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-05-26 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These lectures concentrate on (nonlinear) stochastic partial differential equations (SPDE) of evolutionary type. There are three approaches to analyze SPDE: the "martingale measure approach", the "mild solution approach" and the "variational approach". The purpose of these notes is to give a concise and as self-contained as possible an introduction to the "variational approach". A large part of necessary background material is included in appendices.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of original papers related to the Israeli GAFA seminar (on Geometric Aspects of Functional Analysis) during the years 2004-2005 reflects the general trends of the theory and are a source of inspiration for research. Most of the papers deal with different aspects of the Asymptotic Geometric Analysis, ranging from classical topics in the geometry of convex bodies to the study of sections or projections of convex bodies.
Book Synopsis Punctured Torus Groups and 2-Bridge Knot Groups (I) by : Hirotaka Akiyoshi
Download or read book Punctured Torus Groups and 2-Bridge Knot Groups (I) written by Hirotaka Akiyoshi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-05-26 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is the first part of a work that provides a full account of Jorgensen's theory of punctured torus Kleinian groups and its generalization. It offers an elementary and self-contained description of Jorgensen's theory with a complete proof. Through various informative illustrations, readers are naturally led to an intuitive, synthetic grasp of the theory, which clarifies how a very simple fuchsian group evolves into complicated Kleinian groups.
