Download or read book Nitrogen Oxide Abatement by Reduction with Ammonia and Zeolite Catalyst for the 50 MW Hypersonic Test Leg Electrogasdynamics Facility written by Laurence K. Burnell and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Selective catalytic reduction, using ammonia as the reductant over a zeolyte catalyst, was chosen for the abatement of nitrogen oxides from the Facility (Technical Report AFFDL-TR-75-46). Equipment design specifications were prepared for a system consisting of: (a) two activated carbon adsorption beds, (b) two fluidized bed catalytic reactors, (c) bypass and emergency relief, and (d) temperature/ammonia controls. The activated carbon beds remove oil from the Facility reciprocating compressors to eliminate the potential of explosion with ammonium nitrate in the reactor. The fluidized bed reactor combines nitrogen oxide containing gas with ammonia producing nitrogen and water with less than 100 ppm residual nitrogen oxides. The reactor operates at 350-400C and uses the exothermic heat of reaction of nitrogen oxides and oxygen with ammonia to heat the 80C inlet gas and ammonia. The bed is jacketed with commercial heat transfer oil to remove excess heat. (Author).
Book Synopsis Abatement of Nitrogen Oxides Effluent from the 50 Mw Hypersonic Test Leg Electrogasdynamics Facility by : Laurence K. Burnell
Download or read book Abatement of Nitrogen Oxides Effluent from the 50 Mw Hypersonic Test Leg Electrogasdynamics Facility written by Laurence K. Burnell and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methods for the abatement of nitrogen oxides from the Facility were evaluated technically and economically. Methods previously tested by AFFDL were reviewed. New methods considered included: absorption, adsorption, catalytic decomposition and reduction, dispersion from tall stacks, entrapment, gas phase reactions, and thermal reduction methods including controlled cooling and flame incineration in the boilers. Evaluations were based on scientific and technical literature as well as personal contacts and in-house computer simulations. A selective catalytic reduction method using ammonia as the reductant over a zeolite catalyst was recommended. A subsequent report will be issued detailing design criteria for the application of this method to the Facility. (Author).

Download or read book Selective Catalytic Reduction Technology for the Control of Nitrogen Oxide Emissions from Coal-Fired Boilers written by Gene Knight and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2008-08 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Clean Coal Technology Demo. Program (CCTDP) is an effort to demonstrate a new generation of innovative coal utilization processes in a series of facilities built across the country. These projects are carried out on a commercial scale to prove technical feasibility and provide the info. required for future applications. Projects have demonstrated technical options with the potential to meet the needs of energy markets while satisfying environ. requirements. Part of this program is the demo. of technologies designed to reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) from existing coal-fired utility boilers. This report summarizes the status of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology for the control of NOx emissions from high-sulfur, coal-fired boilers. Illus.
