Book Synopsis ppk on JavaScript by : Peter-Paul Koch
Download or read book ppk on JavaScript written by Peter-Paul Koch and published by New Riders. This book was released on 2006-09-26 with total page 628 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether you're an old-school scripter who needs to modernize your JavaScripting skills or a standards-aware Web developer who needs best practices and code examples, you'll welcome this guide from a JavaScript master. Other JavaScript books use example scripts that have little bearing on real-world Web development and are useful only in the chapter at hand. In contrast, Peter-Paul Koch's book uses eight real-world scripts he created for real-world clients in order to earn real-world money. That means the scripts are guaranteed to do something useful (and sellable!) that enhances the usability of the page they're used on. The book's example scripts include one that sorts a data table according to the user's search queries, a form validation script, a script that shows form fields only when the user needs them, a drop-down menu, and a data retrieval script that uses simple Ajax and shows the data in an animation. After an overview of JavaScript's purpose, Peter-Paul provides theoretical chapters on the context (jobs for JavaScript, CSS vs. JavaScript), the browsers (debugging, the arcana of the browser string), and script preparation. Then follow practical chapters on Core, BOM, Events, DOM, CSS Modification, and Data Retrieval, all of which are explained through a combination of theoretical instruction and the taking apart of the relevant sections of the example scripts.

Book Synopsis The Politics of Literature in Nazi Germany by : Jan-Pieter Barbian
Download or read book The Politics of Literature in Nazi Germany written by Jan-Pieter Barbian and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2013-08-29 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the most comprehensive account to date of literary politics in Nazi Germany and of the institutions, organizations and people who controlled German literature during the Third Reich. Barbian details a media dictatorship-involving the persecution and control of writers, publishers and libraries, but also voluntary assimilation and pre-emptive self-censorship-that began almost immediately under the National Socialists, leading to authors' forced declarations of loyalty, literary propaganda, censorship, and book burnings. Special attention is given to Nazi regulation of the publishing industry and command over all forms of publication and dissemination, from the most presitigious publishing houses to the smallest municipal and school libraries. Barbian also shows that, although the Nazis censored books not in line with Party aims, many publishers and writers took advantage of loopholes in their system of control. Supporting his work with exhaustive research of original sources, Barbian describes a society in which everybody who was not openly opposed to it, participated in the system, whether as a writer, an editor, or even as an ordinary visitor to a library.

Book Synopsis Cognitive Activation in the Mathematics Classroom and Professional Competence of Teachers by : Mareike Kunter
Download or read book Cognitive Activation in the Mathematics Classroom and Professional Competence of Teachers written by Mareike Kunter and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-29 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work reports the findings of the Professional Competence of Teachers, Cognitively Activating Instruction, and Development of Students ́ Mathematical Literacy project (COACTIV). COACTIV applies a broad, innovative conceptualization of teacher competence to examine how mathematics teachers’ knowledge, beliefs, motivational orientations, and self-regulation skills influence their instructional practice and teaching outcomes In this project data was collected on various aspects of teacher competence and classroom instruction from the perspective of both the teachers themselves and their students. Moreover, it gauges the effects of these teacher characteristics on student learning, as indexed by the progress students in each class. Questions addressed in the study which are reported in this volume include: What are the characteristics of successful teaching? What distinguishes teachers who succeed in their profession? How can the quality of instruction be improved?

Book Synopsis Quantum Theory, Groups, Fields and Particles by : A. O. Barut
Download or read book Quantum Theory, Groups, Fields and Particles written by A. O. Barut and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-11-30 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Symmetry and Dynamics have played, sometimes dualistic, sometimes complimentary, but always a very essential role in the physicist's description and conception of Nature. These are again the basic underlying themes of the present volume. It collects self-contained introductory contributions on some of the recent developments both in mathematical concepts and in physical applications which are becoming very important in current research. So we see in this volume, on the one hand, differential geometry, group representations, topology and algebras and on the other hand, particle equations, particle dynamics and particle interactions. Specifically, this book contains a complete exposition of the theory of deformations of symplectic algebras and quantization, expository material on topology and geometry in physics, and group representations. On the more physical side, we have studies on the concept of particles, on conformal spinors of Cartan, on gauge and supersymmetric field theories, and on relativistic theory of particle interactions and the theory of magnetic resonances. The contributions collected here were originally delivered at two Meetings in Turkey, at Blacksea University in Trabzon and at the University of Bosphorus in Istanbul. But they have been thoroughly revised, updated and extended for this volume. It is a pleasure for me to acknowledge the support of UNESCO, the support and hospitality of Blacksea and Bosphorus Universities for these two memorable Meetings in Mathematical Physics, and to thank the Contributors for their effort and care in preparing this work.
Book Synopsis New Opportunities and Challenges in Occupational Safety and Health Management by : Daniel Podgórski
Download or read book New Opportunities and Challenges in Occupational Safety and Health Management written by Daniel Podgórski and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-07-08 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global economy and its business environment, and thus the world of work, have recently been influenced by demographic and social changes, globalisation, as well as rapid development and introduction of novel, sophisticated and previously unknown technologies and new business models, especially in the context of the so-called fourth industrial revolution. These changes pose a number of challenges in terms of maintaining and improving occupational safety and health (OSH) management performance, as traditional approaches to OSH management in new working environments may no longer be effective. In view of the above, the overall goal of this book is to present new approaches and methods for improving the effectiveness of OSH management. They are based on state-of-the-art research and are in line with the latest trends and concepts in the field. The book focuses on five thematic areas, which are discussed in respective chapters: 1) Implementing the process approach to OSH management; 2) Improving OSH management systems with fuzzy cognitive maps; 3) Implementing strategic thinking approaches in relation to OSH management; 4) Integrating OSH management within the framework of the CSR concept; 5) Enhancing OSH management processes through the use of smart digital technologies. The methods and solutions discussed may be considered as specific "opportunities" for the improvement to be taken into account in the processes of implementing and maintaining an OSH management system in light of the requirements of the new ISO 45001 standard.
