Book Synopsis The Real Estate Industry and Environmental Social and Governance Awareness (ESG) by : Katharina Kühn
Download or read book The Real Estate Industry and Environmental Social and Governance Awareness (ESG) written by Katharina Kühn and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2020-12-30 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2020 in the subject Economy - Real estate industry, grade: 1,2, Reutlingen University, language: English, abstract: The objective of this paper is to identify potential metrics that can be used to measure the awareness of environmental, social, and governance factors within the real estate industry effectively. Thereby, this paper also attempts to identify drivers that encourage stakeholders to increase their ESG awareness. This paper further looks at the issue of ESG for the real estate industry from a macro perspective rather than a micro-perspective. Thus, metrics will be accordingly high-level to hopefully capture the awareness within the market from a multi-dimensional perspective, rather than analyzing the ESG metrics for a single player in the real estate industry. As one of the industries with the highest carbon footprint, the real estate sector needs to cut 77 % of total carbon emissions by 2050 compared to 2016 in order to meet goals set out in the UN Paris Agreement. These facts are alarming. Especially the longevity of real estate makes ESG issues particularly relevant for this industry. Thus, the real estate industry carries a significant amount of importance and responsibility when it comes to reaching these climate goals.

Download or read book Cultures and Globalization written by Helmut K Anheier and published by SAGE. This book was released on 2012-03-31 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today is a new metropolitan age and for the first time ever more people live in cities than they do anywhere else. As cities strengthen their international and cultural influence, the global world is acted out most articulately in the world′s urban hubs - through its diverse cultures, broad networks and innovative styles of governance. Looking at the city through its internal dynamics, the book examines how governance and cultural policy play out in a national and international framework. Making a truly global contribution to the literature, the editors bring together a truly international and highly-respected bevy of scholars. In doing so, they skilfully steer debates beyond the city as an economic powerhouse, to cover issues that fully comprehend a city′s cultural dynamics and its impact on policy including alternative economies, creativity, migration, diversity, sustainability, education and urban planning. Innovative in its approach and content, this book is ideal for students, scholars and researchers interested in sociology, urban studies, cultural studies, and public policy.
