Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We came into this world as children to go back again to the universe that created us. Born to life, condemned to leave and finally to go back home. This is the Greek principle of “nestos”, the innate need for knowledge that pushes us towards our original place. The poem NESTOS - My return home deals with the personal journey which every man is called to accomplish; an arduous journey that leads to places of serenity, joy and inner peace, which teaches us to refine the way we look at things, to see the good side where others fail, seeing only shadows. The reference to the concept of nostoi – derived from the Greek epic literature - is clear but the concept of the “return” assumes a new value and a new meaning for the author. It is a return to a new version of ourselves, more aware, spiritually enriched by the experience of the journey, real or imagined. It is from this source of inspiration that Giovanni Scafaro wrote this poem, a jorney into a world of knowledge which inflicted many sufferings on him but it also gave him the chance to enjoy the pleasure of discovering new worlds made up of light, peace and well-being.

Pericles returns home more than a hero: he's the leader of Athens, the empire's beacon of light. But even during times of peace, the threat of Sparta—Athens's legendary rival—looms large on the horizon. When a sudden catastrophe brings Sparta to its knees, Pericles sees a golden opportunity to forever shift the balance of power in his city's favor. For sometimes, the only way to win lasting peace is to wage war. Sparta may be weak, but their power is far from extinguished. Soon a ruthless young boy steps forward to lead the Spartans back to greatness. As the drums of battle draw closer, can Pericles rise to victory once more—or will the world's greatest empire fall under his watch?

Book excerpt: In this “profound, daring” tale of loss and faith, a woman haunted by tragedy begins to find healing in the waters—and love—that surround her (San Francisco Chronicle). Reina Castillo’s beloved brother has been sentenced to death for an unthinkable crime that shocked the community—and Reina secretly blames herself. Devastated and grieving, Reina moves to a quiet enclave in the Florida Keys seeking anonymity and a new start, and meets Nesto Cadena, a recently exiled Cuban awaiting the arrival of the children he left behind in Havana. Inspired by Nesto’s love of the sea and capacity for faith, Reina comes to understand her own connections to the life-giving and destructive forces of the ocean that surrounds her, as well as its role in her family’s troubled history. Against a vibrant coastal backdrop that ranges from Miami to Cartagena, Colombia, author Patricia Engel delivers a profound and riveting Pan-American story of fractured souls finding solace and redemption in the beauty and power of the natural world—and in one another. “This is a writer who understands that exile can be as much an emotional state as a geographical one, that the agony of leaving tugs against the agony of being left behind. . . . To immerse oneself in Engel’s prose is to surrender to a seductive embrace, a hypnotic beauty that mingles submersion with submission.” —The New York Times Book Review

They end up on a roller coaster ride of sliding credit cards and writing checks. While locked up, Nesto ends up running into an old friend lollipop, who has a sleeve full of tricks that put Ness and Nesto back on top of their game. After they take care of home, be prepared to take a trip or two with Finesse and Nesto as they head to Florida to make a couple of runs. After they meet Ja-sun, the biggest kingpin ever to do it out of lil Haiti, they head home to put some heavy cocaine dealing down in the streets of Oakland. A lot is on the line, including their lives, along with their freedom as they take you on a trip through the town. All Nesto ever wanted was to be a good father, while he enjoyed the finer things in life. Finesse was at a point in his life where he was just along for the ride. After a close friend of theirs comes up short, lies and deception along with jealousy and envy made enemies. Fortune and fame on the line, it was just a matter of time before they had to cross paths again. Little did anybody know that it would be sooner than they thought.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the Andros Odyssey refugees in Eastern Macedonia managed to survive a series of catastrophes, a much bigger threat appears. Greece enters into World War II. Anthony leaves his wife and joins other poorly equipped Greeks at the front. Greece had to fight four enemies at once: Albania, Italy, Bulgaria and Germany. After the Greek capitulation, Eastern Macedonia was occupied by Bulgarians, who wanted to make sure that no Greek claim on that land persisted after the war. This brought about genocidal massacres of all Greek population in the area. The Bulgarian ambitions were also paralleled by Hitlers Final Solution, regarding the Jewish presence in Greece. As the couple and the people around them struggle to survive this murderous environment, they face starvation, greed, language problems, misinformation, illness, treason, and a variety of other factors. Worse yet, following the capitulation of Germany, Greece is plagued by a new catastrophe, a civil war between communist and nationalist factions that lead to the Cold War. As a result, the Greeks sacrifice proportionally the highest part (almost 10%) of their population during this period of War II. It was the earlier part of this noted sacrifice that gave crucial time to the Russians to muster their strength for a decisive WWII victory against the Germans. The end of the civil war finds Anthony and Elisabeth with two sons, barely able to feed themselves. The oldest son, after reaching adulthood leaves for Germany in search of work. The younger one, after finishing high school, and not being able to afford advanced schooling in Greece leaves for the United States, to help his great uncle, Pandel Mayo in exchange for college tuition. He happens to be the author of this book.

Soon Adam's back at school trying to fit in and not draw extra attention to himself, but when he sees his neighbour Ernesto transform into a chupacubra, and the beautiful Corina (Adam's number one mega-crush) turns out to be a (vegan) vampire, undead life is never going to be the same again.
