Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Remarkable developments have taken place in the domain of political theory in the present age of liberalisation and globalisation. The concept of the nation-state has undergone a major change on account of the irresistible erosion of sovereignty in the internal and external spheres and the emergence of the model of a transnational state. Different models of state may be seen in the countries of the Third World. It has put a question mark on the future of the nation-state. The basic tenets of liberalism have been challenged by Neo-liberalism and Communitarianism with the result that now it is on the retreat. In the post-World War II period, the New Fabians had revised the tenets of Fabianism, but in the post-Cold War era it has been replaced by the Third Way. The pluralists had attacked the classical theory of sovereignty, but the neo-pluralists have given a new shape to it. The theme of political legitimacy has been revisited. The old concept of citizenship requires to be reinterpreted in the contexts of civic republicanism, multi-culturalism and identity politics. It has happened with other themes as well which may be taken note of in the emergence of new topics like Neo-colonialism, Post-colonialism, Post-communism and the like. The task of a political scientist is to comprehend and critically describe the underlying principles of political behaviour in their empirical as well as normative dimensions. Inter-disciplinary focus has become so popular now that the implications of the themes of various social sciences have penetrated into the domain of each other. The discipline of political science has become a study of `power' and of 'struggle' for its sake at any level -- local, regional, national and international. In the light of these salient features, university courses have been modernised, and the author has done well to cover them in this work so as to adequately meet the requirements of students offering this course at the degree and postgraduate levels and of candidates preparing for competitive examinations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Political theory covers within its fold certain related fields as political thought, political philosophy and political ideology. These are like sister parts of a particular discipline whose comprehensive study looks both perplexing and refreshing. A cynic may take it as a maze of overlapping contradictions and confusion, while its serious student may find it a lot of refreshing information about social and political phenomena. The reason behind it is that social and political issues change with the passage of time in respect of their nature and ramifications, and the theorists take different views and adopt different approaches to understand and explain what they call social and political reality. It depends on the broadness of their vision and the depth of their investigation from the standpoint of normativism, or empiricism, or a curious blending of both. While the greatness of the contribution of the Western thinkers and theorists to the stock of political theory and socio-political philosophy cannot be refuted, it cannot be taken as their exclusive domain if one acquires knowledge about such contributions of the great thinkers and theorists of the East. The book will meet the needs of the students preparing for the All India and State Civil Examinations. It will also prove a valuable textbook for postgraduate students of political science and socio-political philosophy.

In the book, an attempt has been made to highlight the provisions of the latest National Education Policy in comparison with some best education systems in the world such as the USA, the UK, and Finland. The comparative analysis with these countries has made this book unique and interesting to read. The examination of elementary as well as secondary education of Japan, and the best practices of Finnish schools and government have opened up a new door of knowledge to the readers. This book has been written mainly for students, teachers, guardians, and other stakeholders, who are actually going to benefit from the National Education Policy 2020. India's future growth and genuine sustainable development can only be achieved through the proper implementation of the NEP-2020.

Book excerpt: This is the eBook version of the printed book. This digtial Short Cut provides a concise and supremely useful guide to the emerging trend of User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The ultimate goal of UAT is to validate that a system of products is of sufficient quality to be accepted by the users and, ultimately, the sponsors. This Short Cut is unique in that it views UAT through the concept that the user should be represented in every step of the software delivery lifecycle--including requirements, designs, testing, and maintenance--so that the user community is prepared, and even eager, to accept the software once it is completed. Rob Cimperman offers an informal explanation of testing, software development, and project management to equip business testers with both theory and practical examples, without the overwhelming details often associated with books written for "professional" testers. Rather than simply explaining what to do, this resource is the only one that explains why and how to do it by addressing this market segment in simple, actionable language. Throughout the author’s considerable experience coordinating UAT and guiding business testers, he has learned precisely what testers do and do not intuitively understand about the software development process. UAT Defined informs the reader about the unfamiliar political landscape they will encounter. Giving the UAT team the tools they need to comprehend the process on their own saves the IT staff from having to explain test management from the beginning. The result is a practice that increases productivity and eliminates the costs associated with unnecessary mistakes, tedious rework, and avoidable delays. Chapter 1 Introduction Chapter 2 Defining UAT–What It Is...and What It Is Not Chapter 3 Test Planning–Setting the Stage for UAT Success Chapter 4 Building the Team–Transforming Users into Testers Chapter 5 Executing UAT–Tracking and Reporting Chapter 6 Mitigating Risk–Your Primary Responsibility
