Is this one of the many secrets members of the Turret/Rawls family are keeping from each other? Grandparents, parents, children, siblings, cousins, aunts. Who is keeping what from whom and why? The young ones grow up dealing with death in the family, pregnancy and consequences, relocation, intergenerational relations. Secrets...secrets...secrets. As the adult world becomes wider these have their influence on choices. Mort and Sarah Turrett are "from the '60s" and "seem more like parents than our own parents" to Ronnie, Rosie and Bucky Rawls. Circumstances take them separately and together between suburban southwest Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Seattle and Portland, Oregon as they test the bonds of family and explore family alternatives, and what friends can and cannot do for each other. You are immediately drawn into this saga of a 21st century extended family moving beyond conventional boundaries to separate and sort themselves out, finally realizing relationships that bind them as family and community in new ways. Choices...choices...choices.
Book Synopsis The Law of Unjust Enrichment in China: Necessary or Not? by : Siyi Lin
Download or read book The Law of Unjust Enrichment in China: Necessary or Not? written by Siyi Lin and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-08-30 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first book focusing on the Chinese law of unjust enrichment in English and introducing it to Western jurisdictions. Unjust enrichment is currently one of the most controversial areas of law in many jurisdictions and rife with academic debate. This book analyzes the historical evolution, current doctrines, and relationships of unjust enrichment with other areas of private law in China. It also provides insights into judicial practice. In May 2020, China promulgated its first-ever Civil Code since the establishment of the People's Republic of China, which is a milestone in the history of Chinese law. Before the Civil Code, there was only one legal provision regulating unjust enrichment, which requires a person obtaining benefits “without a legal basis” to return such benefits. However, the new Civil Code contains a separate chapter regulating unjust enrichment. This book analyzes and evaluates those new provisions in the Civil Code to provide a most up-to-date analysis of the Chinese law of unjust enrichment.

Incorporating vignettes, chapter summaries, as well as theory and evidence in fields such as education, juvenile justice, child welfare, independent living, supporting families, and positive youth development, this book proposes a template that is both credible and feasible for improving community living outcomes for youth leaving residential mental health programs.

Download or read book Remote written by Jason Fried and published by Crown Currency. This book was released on 2013-10-29 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The classic guide to working from home and why we should embrace a virtual office, from the bestselling authors of Rework “A paradigm-smashing, compulsively readable case for a radically remote workplace.”—Susan Cain, New York Times bestselling author of Quiet Does working from home—or anywhere else but the office—make sense? In Remote, Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson, the founders of Basecamp, bring new insight to the hotly debated argument. While providing a complete overview of remote work’s challenges, Jason and David persuasively argue that, often, the advantages of working “off-site” far outweigh the drawbacks. In the past decade, the “under one roof” model of conducting work has been steadily declining, owing to technology that is rapidly creating virtual workspaces. Today the new paradigm is “move work to the workers, rather than workers to the workplace.” Companies see advantages in the way remote work increases their talent pool, reduces turnover, lessens their real estate footprint, and improves their ability to conduct business across multiple time zones. But what about the workers? Jason and David point out that remote work means working at the best job (not just one that is nearby) and achieving a harmonious work-life balance while increasing productivity. And those are just some of the perks to be gained from leaving the office behind. Remote reveals a multitude of other benefits, along with in-the-trenches tips for easing your way out of the office door where you control how your workday will unfold. Whether you’re a manager fretting over how to manage workers who “want out” or a worker who wants to achieve a lifestyle upgrade while still being a top performer professionally, this book is your indispensable guide.
