This book was released on 1994 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent studies by the Gas Research Institute (GRI), National Petroleum Council (NPC), and others indicate that as traditional gas producing hubs in the East and the Mid-West decline in the coming years, western basins will take on a more prominent role in the United States gas supply portfolio. In 1993, the Gas Research Institute and the Department of Energy (DOE) published the Atlas of Major Rocky Mountain Gas Reservoirs in this major gas producing region. The Atlas identified the Greater Green River Basin (GGRB) in southwestern Wyoming as having the largest gas resource potential in the central Rocky Mountain region. The Greater Green River Basin, however, is rich in other competing natural resources and is dominated by federally owned and administered lands. Both can potentially impact the access and development of the natural gas resource and severely alter future gas production goals from the basin. Accessibility to the Greater Green River Basin Gas Supply, Southwestern Wyoming provides a visual, technical, and statistical definition of the major competing resources (gas, oil, coal, trona, wilderness, wildlife) and land use conflicts on public lands. The report attempts to quantify the impact of these conflicts on future gas production and development in southwestern Wyoming. GRI believes this report will provide benefit to the gas industry, land use planners, and to those who support efficient and rational management of this region's vast gas resource.

Book Synopsis Assessing Natural Gas and Oil Resources. An Example of a New Approach in the Greater Green River Basin by :
Download or read book Assessing Natural Gas and Oil Resources. An Example of a New Approach in the Greater Green River Basin written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents a new approach to assessing natural gas and crude oil resources and the results of applying that approach to the Greater Green River Basin in south- western Wyoming. The methodology builds upon existing assessments of technically recoverable resources by evaluating economic and environmental considerations and including these into the assessment as additional resource attributes. The primary objectives of this effort are to inform government officials and other stakeholders involved in land use planning, development of energy policies, and energy development and utilization planning. The approach aims to guide strategic (i.e., large-scale and long-term) planning, and is not intended to replace existing project-specific economic or land use planning processes.

Book Synopsis Greater Green River Basin Production Improvement Project by :

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Greater Green River Basin (GGRB) of Wyoming has produced abundant oil and gas out of multiple reservoirs for over 60 years, and large quantities of gas remain untapped in tight gas sandstone reservoirs. Even though GGRB production has been established in formations from the Paleozoic to the Tertiary, recent activity has focused on several Cretaceous reservoirs. Two of these formations, the Ahnond and the Frontier Formations, have been classified as tight sands and are prolific producers in the GGRB. The formations typically naturally fractured and have been exploited using conventional well technology. In most cases, hydraulic fracture treatments must be performed when completing these wells to to increase gas production rates to economic levels. The objectives of the GGRB production improvement project were to apply the concept of horizontal and directional drilling to the Second Frontier Formation on the western flank of the Rock Springs Uplift and to compare production improvements by drilling, completing, and testing vertical, horizontal and directionally-drilled wellbores at a common site.
