Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This ambitious work which took the better part of a decade to produce will be essential reading for all serious defence study students, and of absorbing interest to military professionals and lay people concerned with the future of warfare and all aspects of response to military attack. Its ultimate aim is to demonstrate that the advent of Cyberwarfare has pushed traditional legal thinking regarding the regulation of forcible action beyond traditional boundaries. It attempts to do so by critically analyzing specific characteristics which are inherent to Cyberwarfare such as stealth, speed, untraceability, the availability to State as well as Non-State sponsored agents, their defiance of traditional borders, and an unprecedented potential for destruction, all of which have played a major role in making obsolescent traditional legal norms relied upon for the effective regulation of the use of force. It follows from the above that no defence system can be effectively regulated, especially one as new and unconventional as Information Warfare, unless all its specific aspects are explored as deeply as possible. The best means to achieve such a purpose have been deemed to be through the inclusion as well as the careful analysis of as many real life examples of Information Warfare operations as possible in order to illustrate the special nature of Information Warfare and its various individual features. The examples compiled for inclusion have been selected not on the basis of being the most recent, but on the basis of their factual background being as fully known as possible. Consequently, this book has been constructed around the concept of legality, starting with a section outlining currently existing legal norms of individual self-defense, then applying those norms to Information Warfare Operations including a presentation of existing international legal instruments with provisions applicable to Information Warfare which could serve as additional essential guidelines for a future legal framework specifically crafted to regulate the use of force in cyberspace. Last but not least this book sets a paradigm with regard to Cyberwarfare as well as with other methods of warfare which escape the boundaries of the traditional State monopoly of the use of force. It ultimately shows the extent to which traditional legal thinking, which is shaped around the premise of regulating typical forms of State forcible action, when faced with such methods of warfare is totally obsolete.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a practical self-defense guide targeted towards the untrained individual who desires to embody a warrior mentality, and learn how to survive vicious life and death situations with the principles and strategies of close quarters fighting. It was written by former Marine Corps infantry machine gunner and martial arts instructor Kyle Swinehart. The sole purpose of his self-defense guide is to increase your chances of surviving a violent assault to the maximum potential. This is not a style of martial arts; these fighting tactics are extremely violent in nature because they were born on the battlefield, and designed for combating the most savage and deadly encounters in real world scenarios. It combines human biological instincts with self-control to form a completely fluid fighting strategy that is perpetually changing based on your threat and the environment around you. In this warrior's manual, you will learn how your body responds in an emergency, and what you can do to prepare yourself for violent combat. Kyle will describe the advantages of embracing the chaos, and how to respond to being assaulted. You will learn about the systems that allow your body to function, and the most effective way to target these systems on your enemy and successfully shut them off during a physical confrontation. Kyle will use simple physics to demonstrate the importance of speed in motion, and how to produce these effects with your body in the most efficient way. You will learn about his Spartan Defense, a close quarters maneuver that will maximize your offensive and defensive capabilities. He will also cover the various ranges of fighting in combat, and the safest way to traverse between them. You will also read about several of the most quick and effective methods of quickly taking your opponent down in close quarters, and the best strategies for fighting multiple opponents. This self-defense guide also contains numerous escape and evasion tactics Kyle learned in the Marine Corps infantry. You will learn how to be a hard target, what to do when someone is following you, and how to survive being kidnapped. It also includes various methods of escaping the most common enemy restraints. Kyle also teaches what your objectives are when you are assaulted with a deadly weapon, and how you must respond to being seriously injured by your attacker. This incredibly informative self-defense guide is packed full of tactics and knowledge that can potentially save your life, and should be available to everyone. Book excerpt: The indispensable, foundational guide to defending yourself and your loved ones with a firearm, covering the philosophy, psychology, politics and practicalities of concealed carry. Written by experienced firearms instructors and founders of concealed carry organizations who have trained thousands of people to become safe, responsible concealed carriers. Clear, unambiguous perspective and advice that equips you to defeat any aggressor - and survive the legal aftermath. Full-size 8"x10" format with large, clear print and illustrations. Ideal for anyone considering owning or carrying a defensive firearm. FIRST OF ALL, DENIAL CAN KILL YOU. It's a dangerous world - make no mistake. But should you carry a gun? What does carrying a concealed firearm - day in, day out - really mean: to you, to your family, to your community? Under stress, could you assume the correct stance, control your breathing, draw your weapon smoothly, grip it firmly, bring it up to aim, and squeeze the trigger as many times as necessary... Calm in the knowledge you were fully justified, and well-prepared for the outcome of your defensive actions? Unlike any other book, CARRYING A GUN dives into the true fundamentals of what going armed really means to you: the law-abiding citizen dealing with the fact that we live among predators. Starting with the philosophy of self-defense, the authors ask and answer core questions about the nature of violence, justice, morality, culture, tradition, rights and responsibilities. Familiarity with the answers to these questions will enable you to defend yourself not only in the court of public opinion but on the street: to act quickly, decisively and with ruthless effect when seconds count. Continuing with the psychology of self-defense, CARRYING A GUN lays out what to expect before, during and after a threat. Those who have been in combat know there is nothing like it in human experience: being prepared for what you will feel in the pivotal moment of fight or flight can make the difference between life and death. CARRYING A GUN goes on to calmly, rationally and authoritatively discuss and illustrate the vital practical elements of the choices you will need to make as one who has decided to protect themselves and others from a violent world by possessing the means and the will to deal deadly violence. Which caliber? Which gun? Which method of carry? How to assess a threat? How to remove the threat? What to do in the aftermath? How to defend one's home? How to do all this within the letter and the spirit of the law? No book can give you the ability and experience to shoot straight under pressure: that is what real-world training is for. CARRYING A GUN prepares you for that training, endowing you with the key knowledge that ensures you will use your training well and wisely - and that you will be the one who walks away from any violent encounter alive, with your head held high. About the Authors: Nick Dahlberg and Chris Schutrop own Midwest Carry Academy and National Carry Academy, two training organizations that get people qualified for their concealed carry permits and more. They have many years of experience in firearms training, having made thousands of people more proficient with their handguns and black rifles. They are also the founders of Stock and Barrel, a firm which builds and manages luxury shooting ranges. Stock and Barrel ranges are open to the public in Chanhassen, MN and Eagan, MN.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For years proposals for gun control and the ownership of firearms have been among the most contentious issues in American politics. For public authorities to make reasonable decisions on these matters, they must take into account facts about the relationship between guns and violence as well as conflicting constitutional claims and divided public opinion. In performing these tasks, legislators need adequate data and research to judge both the effects of firearms on violence and the effects of different violence control policies. Readers of the research literature on firearms may sometimes find themselves unable to distinguish scholarship from advocacy. Given the importance of this issue, there is a pressing need for a clear and unbiased assessment of the existing portfolio of data and research. Firearms and Violence uses conventional standards of science to examine three major themes - firearms and violence, the quality of research, and the quality of data available. The book assesses the strengths and limitations of current databases, examining current research studies on firearm use and the efforts to reduce unjustified firearm use and suggests ways in which they can be improved.
