Book Synopsis Defending the American Family by : Martin Mawyer
Download or read book Defending the American Family written by Martin Mawyer and published by New Leaf Publishing Group. This book was released on 1995-04-01 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume will prove to be one of the most important documents of our time. Within these pages, author Martin Mawyer develops a plan of action to preserve and protect the most vital cell of American society - the family. He calls for an armed truce in the culture war and sketches the definitive blueprint on the rights of parents and their children in modern America. Mawyer skillfully reveals government's intrusive entry into the sacred relationship between parents and their children, making Defending The American Family a must read for every parent. His thesis is supported by evidence that will enlighten and shock readers unfamiliar with government's "standard operating procedure. " If this agenda is adopted, it will not only prevent Congress from contributing further to the moral decay of the nation, but more importantly, it will result in a new birth of freedom and a renewal of virtue in American society. Martin Mawyer is the president and founder of the Christian Action Network, a non-profit lobbying organization dedicated to the protection of the American family.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While First Amendment doctrine treats religion as a human good, the state must not take sides on theological questions. Koppelman explains the logic of this uniquely American form of neutrality: why it is fair to give religion special treatment, why old (but not new) religious ceremonies are permitted, and why laws must have a secular purpose.

Book Synopsis Defending Freedom of Contract: Constitutional Solutions to Resolve the Political Divide by : Patrick Bohan

This book was released on 2019-06-13 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The progressive movement that began in the late nineteenth century was a nonviolent coup d'état changing the United States of America from a republic that promoted equal rights for all to a democracy where the majority rules. As a result, moral and social justice was and is used by the federal government to protect the rights of some while mitigating the rights of others. Patrick Bohan, who has studied constitutional law in depth, examines the revolution in detail in this treatise, demonstrating how freedom of contract can be applied to protect the fundamental rights of each citizen equally. The author evaluates hundreds of laws, cases, and examples of justice gone wrong for issues such as slavery, abortion rights, elections, welfare rights, free speech, freedom of religion, civil rights, property rights, contract rights, gay rights, alien rights, and other important topics that polarize Americans.

Book Synopsis Defending the Revolution by : Jeffrey Stephen
Download or read book Defending the Revolution written by Jeffrey Stephen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-13 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 'Glorious Revolution' of 1688-90 played a fundamental role in re-shaping the political, religious and cultural map of the British Isles. Yet, as this book demonstrates, many key elements of the history of the period between the landing of William of Orange and the establishment of the Union between Scotland and England, remain shadowy. In particular, the religious and theological underpinnings of the Revolution in Scotland have received scant attention compared to discussions of events in England, and Ireland. This book sets out to show how the religious dimension of the revolution settlement in Scotland while comprehensively Presbyterian, was not inevitable, revealing instead the degree of political and religious pressure that was brought to bear in order to press for a moderate settlement that took cognizance of the Episcopalian position. However, the outcome demonstrated the ability of Presbyterians to respond to the changing political circumstances and seize the opportunities they offered, enabling them to galvanise their support within parliament and secure a settlement that went beyond what William and Erastian-inclined Presbyterians would have preferred. Traditionally, treatment of the religious outcome in Scotland has been restricted to a bare narration of the significant acts of parliament - this book takes a more thorough and critical approach to explain not only the nature of the final settlement but how it was achieved, and the legacy it left for both Scotland and the newly forged British state.

Book Synopsis The National Churches of England, Ireland, and Scotland 1801-46 by : Stewart J. Brown
Download or read book The National Churches of England, Ireland, and Scotland 1801-46 written by Stewart J. Brown and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2001-12-06 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1801, the United Kingdom was a semi-confessional State, and the national established Churches of England, Ireland and Scotland were vital to the constitution. They expressed the religious conscience of the State and served as guardians of the faith. Through their parish structures, they provided religious and moral instruction, and rituals for common living. This book explores the struggle to strengthen the influence of the national Churches in the first half of the nineteenth century. For many, the national Churches would help form the United Kingdom into a single Protestant nation-state, with shared beliefs, values and a sense of national mission. Between 1801 and 1825, the State invested heavily in the national Churches. But during the 1830s the growth of Catholic nationalism in Ireland and the emergence of liberalism in Britain thwarted the efforts to unify the nation around the established Churches. Within the national Churches themselves, moreover, voices began calling for independence from the State connection - leading to the Oxford Movement in England and the Disruption of the Church of Scotland.
Book Synopsis Beyond Establishment by : Jonathan Chaplin
Download or read book Beyond Establishment written by Jonathan Chaplin and published by SCM Press. This book was released on 2022-05-31 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Church of England finds itself colliding with society at large on regular occasion. Has the time come, therefore, where the advantages of being the established church are at last outweighed by the disadvantages? Is there a case for disestablishment, and if so, what might a fresh vision of the church’s relationship with wider society be? Separating the question of establishment, from the question of presence in the community, Jonathan Chaplin argues that the time has come for the ending of privileged constitutional ties between the Church of England the British state. Rather than offering a smaller place for the Church of England within society, he suggests, such a separation would in fact enhance its ability to maintain an embedded presence in local parishes, and allow it the room to speak out about the deeper, bigger challenges which face society today.
