Some enemies just won’t give up… Julien Lacusta is a troubled soul, born into tragic circumstances, and raised in a violent time. Despite being a Master Warrior in the house of Jadon, and one of the most elite trackers the Vampyr have ever seen, he is damaged to the core: tormented by endless shadows, haunted by unseen ghosts. And he knows—by all the celestial gods; he knows—that if he ever releases those demons, the beasts that lurk within, there will be hell, fire, and brimstone to pay. The very earth will suffer. Rebecca Johnston is fighting hellhounds of her own: a stalker who won’t let her go, an enemy she cannot defeat, a life that is no longer safe…or free. When she ventures into Dark Moon Vale to raise funds for a worthy cause, she has no idea that she is knocking on the door of fate. She has no idea that an ancient Blood Moon and an inescapable dark Curse are about to change her life. Caught in a web of ever-increasing danger, the machinations of an ancient foe, and a burgeoning house of lies, Julien and Rebecca must summon their courage, face their fears head-on, and fight their way through the chemical allure of BLOOD ECSTASY.

Book excerpt: Between the pissed-off creatures that want her dead and the fallen angel who just wants her, Nephilim and demon hunter Lily Marks is ready for a quiet 20 minutes with her favorite hamburger. If only her life could actually be that simple. It’s bad enough that she’s even civil with a fallen angel like Julian. She’s supposed to kill his kind, not flirt with the possibility of daringly-hot sexy times—and he puts her job at the Sanctuary at risk. And now that she’s a suspected traitor, it’s just a matter of time before “my life is complicated” becomes “here’s hoping I survive the night.” Everything is on the line, and Lily’s running out of time to uncover the real traitor—and she’ll need Julian’s help. That is, if he’s really there to do good. Because being a Nephilim isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be...especially when Lily’s top priority is staying alive.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Saxson Olaru is one of the select, the few, the elite... As a ruthless sentinel sworn to protect the ancient Vampyr king and the house of Jadon, he has “HOJ” literally inscribed on his heart: a heart that was tragically broken centuries earlier, when human hunters slayed his mother and Dark Ones murdered his father. Having survived the unthinkable, he never dreamed he would come this close to another human predator, let alone a female pretending to be his destiny. Kiera and Kyla Sparrow are twin sisters: humans, living very different lives. While Kiera is selfless, clever, and talented, Kyla is dark, duplicitous, and damaged—she belongs to a secret society of vampire-hunters, and she has sworn to destroy as many as she can. When Saxson’s Blood Moon appears in a February sky, and the matching constellation, Cetus the Sea Monster, appears on Kiera’s wrist, Kyla knows exactly what it means: The celestial gods have chosen her beautiful sister to be the eternal mate of an immortal vampire—she just doesn’t know which one. And it really doesn’t matter. If Kyla can recreate the sacred emblem on her own inner wrist, she can take Kiera’s place and commit the ultimate Blood Betrayal. When duty, obedience, and honor clash with a deep, gnawing intuition, an honor-bound warrior will be forced to choose between allegiance to the house he loves and the quiet voice within, whispering: “Warning!” One wrong move. One wrong choice. And all will be lost forever.

Wills (history and philosophy, U. of Virginia-Wise) focuses on how the ordinary people of the region responded to the war. He finds that many remained devoted to the Confederate cause, while others found the demands too difficult and opted in a number of ways not to carry them any longer. Book excerpt: A bad-boy Englishman living carefree on a houseboat finds a love worth building a real home for in this “adorable, sweet [and] sassy” romance (Whispering Stories). Living on a gently rocking houseboat, sexy Adam Hamilton-Shaw is a magnet to the women of Worcestershire. No commitments, just good times. But lately Adam has been feeling adrift—his wild ways more cautionary than idyllic. Writer Sienna Meadows is new to this picturesque corner of England. Looking for local color to inspire her latest work, she’s rented a cottage near the marina. And there’s no more stimulating a view than Adam. Despite his reputation, he’s making Sienna feel a little unmoored. But Sienna wants something more than just a pleasure cruise. She knows that beneath Adam’s charm is a vulnerable man with a damaged past and broken heart. And she’s is determined to mend if—if only he’ll let her. “Sometimes a story sticks with you long after the final word is read. The Rest of My Life is that kind of story.” —Keeper Bookshelf

Book excerpt: "Transcending Dystopia features pioneering research on the role music played in its various connections to and contexts of Jewish communal life and cultural activity in Germany from 1945 to 1989. As the first history of the Jewish communities' musical practices during the postwar and Cold War eras, it tells the story of how the traumatic experience of the Holocaust led to transitions and transformations, and the significance of music in these processes. As such, it relies on music to draw together three areas of inquiry: the Jewish community, the postwar Germanys and their politics after the Holocaust (occupied Germany, the Federal Republic, the Democratic Republic, and divided Berlin), and on the concept of cultural mobility. Indeed, the musical practices of the Jewish communities in the postwar Germanys cannot be divorced from politics as can be observed in their relations to Israel and United States. On the grounds of these conceptual concerns, selective communities serve as case studies to provide a kaleidoscopic panorama of musical practices in worship and in social life. Within these pillars, the chapters in this volume cover a wide spectrum of topics from music during commemorations, on the radio and in Jewish newspapers to synagogue concerts and community events; from the absence and presence of cantor and organ to the resurgence of choral music. What binds these topics tightly together is the specific theoretical inquiry of mobility. Interdisciplinary in scope and method, the book builds on recent scholarship in Cold War studies, cultural history, German studies, Holocaust studies, and Jewish studies"--
