Book Synopsis Lakehurst Borough and Manchester Township by : Cedric Derecho and Eric San Juan
Download or read book Lakehurst Borough and Manchester Township written by Cedric Derecho and Eric San Juan and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2020 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Founded in 1850, but with roots dating to before the American Revolution, Manchester Township is a community of many faces. Springing from the sawmills and bog iron operations that once dotted the Pine Barrens, the village of Manchester began life as a railroad town founded by William Torrey. By the early 20th century, the village had become the borough of Lakehurst, while the surrounding community broke off into Manchester Township, a sleepy region made up of distinct areas like Whiting, Ridgeway, and Pine Lake. As Lakehurst evolved into a vacation retreat for the wealthy (thanks to the luxurious Pine Tree Inn), Manchester welcomed the naval base that would become the site of the infamous Hindenburg disaster. By the 1950s, the community began to shift again, and it eventually became one of New Jersey's great retirement destinations.

Book Synopsis A Journey of Remembering by : Nathan Whiting
Download or read book A Journey of Remembering written by Nathan Whiting and published by Summerland Publishing. This book was released on 2010-03-21 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a story of the author's self-induced journey into and through hell on his way to finding and remembering a way "home" while stumbling upon the ultimate love which is unconditional in form. While preparing for this journey of remembering, he found himself conscious enough at times to realize and save the "gold nuggets" of spirituality he stumbled upon, hoping one day to share these with others. While the gold nuggets are spiritual in nature, it's a raw variety or a "street spirituality." Being a non-conformist and rebel at heart, he had to find some type of spirituality that would work for him and get him back on the path of remembering what he is here for in the human form. This is a brutally honest (and sometimes graphic) retelling of that journey of recovery.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Eli isn't the settling down type; He's always got adventure on his mind, ' said Grandpa Elisha, looking forlornly at the fire. He took another swig of flip. 'Adventure is what killed my older brother at Port Royal.' He let out a tired sigh as he looked Elisha in the eye. 'Eli...Elisha...' said Grandpa Blackman softly. He looked into Elisha's eyes. 'I can see you have made up your mind already; you're going, aren't you, son?' 'That I am.' Elisha Blackman swore to his father that he would never again volunteer for a foolish battle, but with resources running out and war at their doorstep, he knows that some battles are worth fighting. He leaves behind the family he loves, including his pregnant wife, Lucy, and sets off with his brother to fight for the very land they live on. Will Elisha and Joseph make it back to the family that they've sworn to protect? Will the powder keg of English, French, and Indian relations tear apart the lives they've carved out? With careful attention to historical accuracy and deft, thrilling storytelling, Michael Schnorr begins the saga of the Blackman family. This vivid tale of love, faith, and courage is sure to inspire readers. Join the Blackmans as they attempt to hold on to all they hold dear amidst the turbulence of war in a land filled with Thunder, Lightning, and Pillars of Smoke.

Download or read book PROOF written by Daniel Montgomery and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2014-05-27 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It’s time to open your eyes to the freeing power of authentic grace—grace that releases us from trying to earn God's favor, grace that enables us to rest in the finished work of Christ, grace that liberates from the tyranny of trying to please others. That's what the theology of Martin Luther and John Calvin did in their own day for the people around them. Time magazine recently dubbed Calvinism as one of the top ten ideas changing the world right now. And yet most of these discussions center on the issue of predestination or on whether particular people agree with the five points of Calvinism. Daniel Montgomery and Timothy Paul Jones think it's time to rescue the theology of the Reformers from such stale scholasticizing and to declare anew the dangerous and intoxicating joy of the gospel that theyproclaimed. PROOF stands for planned grace, resurrecting grace, outrageous grace, overcoming grace, and forever grace. The authors offer proof of God’s grace upon which people can stand against the attacks of legalism that have led many of God's people to lose sight of the freedom and joy of the gospel. And this proof is intoxicating—it’s like a 200-proof drink that will leave you spiritually staggering at its effect on your life. God’s grace not only declares us “not guilty!” in his presence, it changes our relationship with God—forever.?

Download or read book The Story of the Attack on Pearl Harbor written by Jim Whiting and published by Mitchell Lane Publishers, Inc.. This book was released on 2005-05-15 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Japanese attack on the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 was one of the worst defeats in US military history. It began a string of Japanese successes that seemed to threaten the security of the United States. Many US citizens and government leaders were on the verge of panic. But the attack was probably Japan's biggest mistake. At the time, most Americans did not want to go to war. The anger and outrage that followed the attack swept away those objections, unified the country and made the US determined to win the war.
