Download or read book Gospel-Centered Discipleship (Foreword by Matt Chandler) written by Jonathan K. Dodson and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2022-03-03 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Gospel-Rich, Reproducible Model for Making Disciples as Jesus Intended Biblical discipleship emphasizes encouragement, repentance, and spiritual growth—essential parts of the Christian life. However, well-meaning believers often struggle to follow Jesus, unaware their views are too legalistic, licentious, or individualistic. How can churches and Christians develop a healthy, successful path to disciple-making? In this second edition of Gospel-Centered Discipleship, Jonathan Dodson presents an effective, Spirit-led model for sanctification. Reminding readers that real discipleship is imperfect yet transformational, Dodson encourages Christians to engage more authentically with others as they grow in faith. Drawing from his own failures and successes while following Jesus, Dodson defines discipleship, describes the heart of a disciple, and gives practical guidance for mentor and peer-based discipleship as Jesus intended. Revised and Expanded: Includes three new chapters and new illustrations Applicable: Shows how discipleship can be practical and gospel-centered Theological: Addresses the Holy Spirit's involvement in discipleship Foreword by Matt Chandler: Author of The Explicit Gospel

Book Synopsis Your God, My God, Our God by : S. Wesley Ariarajah
Download or read book Your God, My God, Our God written by S. Wesley Ariarajah and published by World Council of Churches. This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today's religiously plural world, theologian S. Wesley Ariarajah believes that authentic Christian faith demands that we rethink central concepts of the Christian theological tradition. Ariarajah's work is based on the conviction that some of the basic doctrinal formulations about God, Sin, Christ, Salvation, and Mission can in fact be rethought for our day, helping us to affirm deeply the Christian faith while still respecting other religious experiences in their distinctiveness. In this book, Ariarajah traces the biblical roots and theological developments of these doctrines, evaluates their coherence, and recommends new constructive options for a Christian theology of religions in the context of religious plurality.

Book Synopsis A More Christlike God by : Bradley Jersak
Download or read book A More Christlike God written by Bradley Jersak and published by Plain Truth Ministries. This book was released on 2015-09-01 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether our notions of ‘god’ are personal projections or inherited traditions, author and theologian Brad Jersak proposes a radical reassessment, arguing for A More Christlike God: a More Beautiful Gospel. If Christ is “the image of the invisible God, the radiance of God’s glory and exact representation of God’s likeness,” what if we conceived of God as completely Christlike—the perfect Incarnation of self-giving, radically forgiving, co-suffering love? What if God has always been and forever will be ‘cruciform’ (cross-shaped) in his character and actions? A More Christlike God suggests that such a God would be very good news indeed—a God who Jesus “unwrathed” from dead religion, a Love that is always toward us, and a Grace that pours into this suffering world through willing, human partners.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In life and in death, Jesus’ words were powerful and meaningful. Despite the serious effort and increased pain required for Jesus to speak as he hung on the cross, Jesus spoke seven “final words”—statements that have much to teach us about Jesus, his Father, and ourselves: Father Forgive Them Today You Will Be with Me in Paradise Behold Your Son…Behold Your Mother My God, My God, Why Have You Forsaken Me? I Thirst It Is Finished . . . Into Your Hands I Commit My Spirit Postscript: The Words After That In 24 Hours That Changed the World, Adam Hamilton took us on a Lenten journey through the last day of Jesus' life. Now in this inspiring follow-up book, Hamilton explores these final words as seen and heard through the eyes and ears of those who stood near the cross. Each chapter begins with the biblical account followed by a first-person story as might have been told from the viewpoint of one of the characters at the cross. Then the chapter explores the meaning of Jesus’ dying words for our lives today. Following the last statement, a postscript recounts the words Jesus spoke following his resurrection, including what truly were the final words Jesus spoke while walking this earth. Join the crowd now and experience the final words from the cross. Final Words from the Cross offers six chapters/sessions plus a postscript chapter/session, so that classes have the option of a seventh session on Easter Sunday.

Book excerpt: "My God, My Money" is a 40-day devotional guide which highlights some of what the Bible says about the subject of money, wealth and riches and how we can build or maintain a wholesome relationship with money. For the most part, our beliefs about money, wealth and riches are influenced by cultural, social or religious teachings. Unfortunately, some of these teachings create conflicts in our relationship with money. The very popular "Money is the root of all evil" is just one example. My God, My Money provides a context for the reader to reform his or her thinking about money based on biblical principles.
Book Synopsis Oh My God, What's Next! by : Edward Marella
Download or read book Oh My God, What's Next! written by Edward Marella and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2013-09 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his first published book, "Oh My God, What's Next" he will share some of his life experiences with his readers and will inspire them to confront life's tragedies and disappointments with a positive and meaningful spiritual force. Edward "Eddie" Marella was born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 6, 1961.He was the son of an Italian-American family who resided in Quincy, Massachusetts. Early in Eddie's life he experienced several life changing events that forever impacted the way he viewed his future approach to life and religion. At the age of 12, while visiting his dying Grandmother, he witnessed his grandmother going through a near death experience. This was an overwhelming sight for him especially after upon awakening, she explained her experience to him. A few years later little did he know that he would directly experience what his grandmother did. At the age of 15 Eddie was in a severe motor scooter accident and was assumed dead by bystanders who saw the accident and were trying to help. This horrific accident and the near death experience that he went through would forever change his life and strengthen his religious beliefs. Later in life he again met with another serious and life threatening accident while swimming in Cape Cod. He was violently swept under an 18 ft. wave and somehow was miraculously saved and washed ashore unharmed. Eddie's lifelong experiences with near death and his battle against early stage cancer have been his inspiration to continually strengthen his belief in Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. He attends Mass daily and is always ready to help others and to tell his story about how to strive for a healthy and happy life regardless of what life sends.
