Zentrale Fragen sind, wie sich das Bild der guten Mutter begründet, wodurch Mutterbilder und Mutterschaft (im Wandel) beeinflusst werden und ob jugendliche Mütter diesen Anforderungen gerecht werden können sowie altersspezifische Einflüsse auf die Konstruktion des Mutterbildes. Teenager und gleichzeitig Mutter sein – zwei komplett unterschiedliche Lebenslagen. Die frühe Mutterschaft ist ein radikaler Bruch, der eine große Veränderung der gewohnten Lebenswelt mit sich bringt. Betrachtet man die Thematik der jungen Mutterschaft, so ist es neben dem eigentlichen Leben von großer Wichtigkeit grundlegend zu beobachten, wie sich die Rolle und Stellung der Frau in der Gesellschaft im Laufe der Zeit verändert hat. Denn eine jede Mutter unterliegt schon immer dem Druck, den Anforderungen die an eine gute Mutter gestellt werden, gerecht zu werden.

Um ein Verständnis der frühen Mutter- und Schwangerschaft zu erlangen, wird im ersten Teil ein Blick auf die Grundlagen der Adoleszenz und dessen wesentliche Bestandteile gelegt. Auf Grundlage der recherchierten Literatur richtet sich der Hauptteil auf die Schwanger- und Mutterschaft. Bezüglich dessen wird auf Ursachen und Hintergründe hingewiesen. Des Weiteren wird auf eventuelle Probleme und Herausforderungen, mit denen eine junge Mutter zu kämpfen hat, eingegangen, denn frühe Schwangerschaften sind in den Jahren vermehrt in den Medien aufgetreten und von negativen Stigmatisierungen geprägt (vgl. Stauber 2007, Chamakalayil 2013). Neben der Stigmatisierung werden die Entwicklungsaufgaben der Jugend, dessen Kollision mit den Entwicklungsaufgaben eines Erwachsenen, mit dem Schwerpunkt Schwangerschaft detailliert bearbeitet. Zum Ende hin wird auf Unterstützungsmaßnahmen, Aufgaben der Lebensbewältigung, eingegangen. Gerade Jugendliche benötigen in der Zeit des Heranwachsens Unterstützung, um keine Folgen in der weiteren Entwicklung und im späteren Leben davon zu tragen. Galuske schreibt, dass all das, was der Alltag an Problemen aufweist bzw. hergibt, zum Gegenstand in der Sozialen Arbeit werden kann (vgl. Galuske 2013). So versucht, die vorliegende Arbeit aufzuzeigen, wo und wie sich Soziale Arbeit mit dem Schwerpunkt früher Schwangerschaften wiederfindet.
