Zunächst unterteilt sich die Arbeit in den Theorie- und Forschungsstand, um sich ein Bild über den aktuellen Stand der Krankheit und dessen Betreuungssituation zu machen. Folgend werden musiktherapeutische Ansätze zur Symptombehandlung der Krankheit vorgestellt und die Möglichkeiten erwähnt, diese auch als Demenzbetreuer und Pfleger zu nutzen. Danach beginnt der Methodenteil, indem die Durchführung der Forschung erklärt wird, und die Ergebnisse vorgestellt werden. Viele Einrichtungen für Senioren haben sich in den letzten Jahren auf die Krankheit Demenz spezialisiert und können durch eine Betreuung in Vollzeit mit verschiedenen Professionen eine optimale Krankheitsbegleitung leisten, um die Angehörigen in der schwierigen Zeit zu entlasten und dem Erkrankten die nötige Betreuung und Sicherheit zu gewährleisten. Dies ist aber nicht der Regelfall und muss durch weitere alternative Betreuungen in der Sozialen Altenarbeit abgedeckt werden. Denn viele Betroffene, Angehörige oder Einrichtungen können sich eine teure therapeutische Betreuung nicht leisten, um den Erkrankten eine optimale Versorgung anzubieten.
