Book Synopsis New Perspectives on Supply and Distribution Chain Financing: Case Studies from China and Europe by : Georg Baltes
Download or read book New Perspectives on Supply and Distribution Chain Financing: Case Studies from China and Europe written by Georg Baltes and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2015-02-16 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Globalization no longer means simply finding low-cost countries for sourcing, but has involved to include the opportunity for growth in Asia’s emerging domestic markets, specifically China. This development results in extended, truly global supply chains and thus places a higher pressure on working capital. Therefore, several definitions of Supply Chain Management already encompass financial aspects and demand a more integrated consideration of material, information, and financial flows within supply chains. However, more precise theory on “Supply Chain Financing” is understudied and initial implementation of related solutions in industry has only gained momentum during and after the economic and financial crises of 2008 and 2009. In contrast to traditional financial instruments for supply chains – for instance trade finance products which have been around for more than a century – Supply Chain Financing leverages larger and influential members of supply chains. These firms might, for instance, provide easier and cheaper access to financing for smaller supply chain members supporting their profitability through renegotiated and reduced purchasing prices. Echoing recent research results on supply chain risk management, other firms may prefer to take on a supply chain perspective and work on creating agile and resilient supply chains. In this context, Supply Chain Financing can be employed to ensure liquidity for crucial upstream and downstream supply chain partners thereby allowing a firm to effectively control risk while making the most of remaining growth opportunities in emerging markets like China!

Book Synopsis Management Andragogics 2 by : Albert Stähli
Download or read book Management Andragogics 2 written by Albert Stähli and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-03-06 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At a time when managers often provide fodder for unseemly headlines, and some are even compared unflatteringly with locusts, today’s business leaders are called upon as never before to demonstrate the moral justification for their activities, and to ensure that it is understood by all the key stakeholders of a company. What is required is nothing less than a management renaissance, based on a thoroughgoing concept of corporate leadership; there is no less a need for decision makers who hold themselves to the highest standards, with a positive perception of their fu- tion as agents of dissemination, and who are committed to the good not only of “their” firm, but also of society in general. Particularly in today’s environment of significant movements of goods, the hi- est priority is accorded to the social and labor policy elements of company m- agement. For its part, the State must create advantageous framework conditions and promote the willingness to accept risk that is fundamental to the entrepren- rial spirit. A social, constitutional state with a liberal social structure has always been and remains the prime concern of democratically spirited forces everywhere. When managers live up to the expectations with which they are entrusted, they lend the social market economy – often misunderstood and sometimes even m- used – a new luster. This in turn fulfils the hopes and expectations of those Eu- peans for whom the development of pan-European structures stands for the rec- ery from post-communist stagnation.
Book Synopsis Multinational Financial Management by : Alan C. Shapiro
Download or read book Multinational Financial Management written by Alan C. Shapiro and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-12-12 with total page 624 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The eleventh edition of Multinational Financial Management is a comprehensive survey of the essential areas of the international financial market environment, including foreign exchange and derivative markets, risk management, and international capital markets and portfolio investment. Designed for upper-level undergraduate and masters-level courses in international finance and management, this textbook offers readers a conceptual framework for analyzing key financial decisions of multinational firms. The authors both explain and simplify multinational financial management by illustrating how its basic principles share the same foundation as domestic corporate finance. Assuming no prior knowledge of international economics or finance, this substantially revised new edition builds upon the fundamental principles of domestic financial management to examine the unique dimensions of international finance. Readers are presented with a solid theoretical knowledgebase for examining decision problems, as well as practical analytical techniques that clarify the often-ambiguous guidelines used by international financial executives. All the traditional areas of corporate finance are explored from the perspective of a multinational corporation, focusing on elements rarely encountered in domestic finance such as multiple currencies, segmented capital markets, and political risks of nationalization or expropriation.

Book Synopsis Money - The New Rules of the Game by : Christian Felber
Download or read book Money - The New Rules of the Game written by Christian Felber and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-10-25 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book advocates a holistic reform of the current monetary and financial system dealing with the issues of money creation, central banks, loans, stock markets, tax justice, pension security and the international monetary system - “Bretton Woods II”. Its innovative approach presents several alternatives for each cornerstone, in addition to introducing a participatory democratic process whereby sovereign citizens can themselves determine the rules governing the new financial and monetary system. With “democratic money conventions” in each municipality, where the elements of this new money system are discussed and decided on in a participatory manner, and a federal money covenant which then elaborates a template for a referendum about the future “money constitution”, a true “sovereign” could progressively convert money from a financial weapon into a democratic tool. The envisaged democratic monetary system, by providing equal opportunities for every member of society to participate in the development of the “new rules of the game”, turns money progressively into a public good which increases the freedom for all. The new system furthermore drives the enhancement of constitutional and relational values such as human dignity, solidarity, justice, sustainability, or democracy. Money should serve life and should serve the common good. The “Bank for the Common Good” Project, which was initiated in Austria by the author Christian Felber, represents a practical example of his proposals.
