Andere Kulturen haben andere Sitten und Normen, was das Leben in einem fremden Land nicht immer einfach macht. So gibt es einige ausländische Mitbürger, die sich angleichen, was eine Integration erleichtert, während andere bewusst ihre kulturelle, religiöse und ethnische Identität aufrechterhalten, wodurch sie eher abgelehnt werden. Es herrschen auf Seiten der Deutschen und der ausländischen Mitbürger nach wie vor große Vorurteile, welche das Zusammenleben erschweren. Dieses Phänomen lässt sich auch in Schulen beobachten. Denn auch in diesen gehört es mittlerweile zum normalen Erscheinungsbild einer Schulklasse, dass in ihr Kinder aus verschiedenen Nationen und Kulturen anzutreffen sind. Dass es auch hier schon des Öfteren zu Konflikten gekommen ist, zeigen mehrere Beispiele. Ein ganz aktuelles findet man in einem ZDF Bericht, wo geschrieben steht: „Ein Berliner Gymnasium muss muslimischen Schülern einen Gebetsraum bereitstellen. Sie seien berechtigt, einmal am Tag außerhalb des Unterrichts in der Schule zu beten, urteilte das Verwaltungsgericht Berlin.“ Aber das wohl bekannteste Beispiel ist die Rütli-Schule im Berliner Stadtteil Neukölln. Hier baten die Lehrer um Auflösung der Schule, da sie der Gewalt der Schüler nichtmehr standhalten konnten. Zurückgeführt wurde diese Gewalt auf die hohe Anzahl der Ausländer in diesem Stadtteil und somit auch in der Schule. Was 2006 eine große Diskussion über das Schulsystem in Deutschland, der Gewalt an Schulen und der Integration von Kindern mit Migrationshintergrund ausgelöst hat, ist auch heute noch aktuell. In der vorliegenden Arbeit möchte ich mich mit dem Thema „Multikulturelle Schule – Fluch oder Segen?“ auseinander setzen. Was hier relativ provokant formuliert ist, soll im Verlauf der Arbeit verschiedene Sichtweisen auf solche Schulen aufzeigen. Es soll geklärt werden was multikulturelle Schulen sind, wie sie konzipiert sind und welche Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede sich zu herkömmlichen Schulen aufzeigen lassen. Schließlich möchte ich versuchen eine Antwort auf meine zentrale Frage zu finden. In einem Resümee sollen schließlich alle Ergebnisse zusammenfassend erläutert werden.

The concept of superdiversity has been adopted by scholars across the social sciences in order to address a variety of forms, modes, and outcomes of diversification. Central to this field is the relationship between social categorization and social organization, including stratification and inequality. Increasingly complex categories of social “difference” have significant impacts across scales, from entire societies to individual identities. While diversification is often met with simplifying stereotypes, threat narratives, and expressions of antagonism, superdiversity encourages a perspective on difference as comprising multiple social processes, flexible collective meanings, and overlapping personal and group identities. A superdiversity approach encourages the re-evaluation and recognition of social categories as multidimensional, unfixed, and porous as opposed to views based on hardened, one-dimensional thinking about groups. Diversification and increasing social complexity are bound to continue, if not intensify, in light of climate change. This will have profound impacts on the nature of global migration, social relations, and inequalities. Superdiversity presents a convincing case for recognizing new social formations created by changing migration patterns and calls for a re-thinking of public policy and social scientific approaches to social difference. This introduction to the multidisciplinary concept of superdiversity will be of considerable interest to students and researchers in a range of fields in the humanities and social sciences.
