There are men who appreciate the great outdoors (beach-going Coconut Chocolate man) and men who prefer the great indoors (TV addict Chocolate Nougat Log man); men who like to work out (gym junkie Chocolate Protein Bar man) and men who like to eat out (chubby foodie Chocolate-Covered Marshmallow man); men who will make your day (childlike Chocolate Crackle man) and men who will make your night (drop-dead gorgeous Hot Chocolate man). While it's not a dating manual, plenty of sound advice can be found within its pages. Insightful, relatable and laugh-out-loud funny, Men Are Like a Box of Chocolates is the literary equivalent of sitting down with your girlfriends, opening a fresh box of chocolates and having a good gab about the opposite sex.
Book Synopsis Burglars Can't Be Choosers by : Lawrence Block
Download or read book Burglars Can't Be Choosers written by Lawrence Block and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2009-10-13 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bernie Rhodenbarr is a personable chap, a good neighbor, a passable poker player. His chosen profession, however, might not sit well with some. Bernie is a burglar, a good one, effortlessly lifting valuables from the not-so-well-protected abodes of well-to-do New Yorkers like a modern-day Robin Hood. (The poor, as Bernie would be the first to tell you, alas, have nothing worth stealing.) He's not perfect, however; he occasionally makes mistakes. Like accepting a paid assignment from a total stranger to retrieve a particular item from a rich man's apartment. Like still being there when the cops arrive. Like having a freshly slain corpse lying in the next room, and no proof that Bernie isn't the killer. Now he's really got his hands full, having to locate the true perpetrator while somehow eluding the police -- a dirty job indeed, but if Bernie doesn't do it, who will?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gene Ramone Brook -- Chaplain Brookie -- ministers to black inmates in the Green Machine, the nickname for the privatized, for-profit prison that relies on a steady stream of black and brown inmates to fill the coffers of its big corporate contractors. It's a place where anguish quickly replaces hope. Chaplain Brookie's ministry aims to tackle the issues the inmates face and prepare them for life beyond the Green Machine. But it's not having the desired impact, so he decides to do something radically different. He pulls together an unlikely team of inmates to carry out his plan -- former businessman Mr. J who has spent twenty-nine years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, bright young rapper Chocolate who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and Vanilla who was falsely framed as a drug kingpin by his wealthy classmates. Chaplain Brookie faces a major challenge when a fellow chaplain tries to sabotage his plan. The complicated, intriguing lives of these colorful characters come together in The Green Machine, a rare glimpse inside prison walls that illuminates the inmates' constant battle against degradation, humiliation, and dehumanization. Combining compassion and a compelling chronicle of prison life, author Daisy M. Jenkins shines a light on the problems and challenges of mass incarceration and the enormous need for rehabilitation. The Green Machine will make you laugh, cry, and think about life -- and those living it -- behind prison walls.
