Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have written this book from the viewpoint of one who has lived with and loved dogs since being a very young child. We had everything from springer spaniels to a big Newfoundlander. When I moved out on my own, I lived mainly in large cities, so I lived for many years not having a dog. When we bought our place in Hesperia with a large fenced-in yard, I knew it was time again to have a dog. I have been very spiritually oriented from early childhood and all through my adult life. As a young person, I had a very profound spiritual experience, and it changed my viewpoint on life very dramatically. In the book you will see how the spirit world seemed to intervene to bring about the relationship that has developed between my wife and me with our friend Lakota. Of all the dogs I have ever known, this one is the most unique and special. I started to write this book several years ago, and it just stalled. Recently I had another spiritual experience, and the doorway was opened again. The tale flowed freely from Lakota, and here we are with her story. It has been a joy to put it down in words in this book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I had fun in writing it.

Book excerpt: It has been a long-held belief that within our own government lies a shadow conspiracy whose members hide from the public the fact that we have received technological advancements from otherworldly beings. A small group of journalists and police officers may have uncovered the truth about the terrifying price that we all may have paid for that technology. The public will learn of this, not through the mainstream media, but through the front pages of a tabloid press – a ragsheet. When Douglas Cherones, a rookie novelist, approaches Warren McCullough, a down on his luck reporter, the two embark on a mission to track down 14 missing children. Referred to by the media as the Mid-Atlantic fourteen, the trail leads them to a murder - suicide cult whose enigmatic leader may be in contact with a malevolent alien lifeform.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This project started out as an heirloom document for my grandchildren. That is still the main purpose. It had been expanded by family members who read some of the rough drafts to share these stories with others. With this input, I offer these stories to all that are interested.Fifty years, half a century, two score and ten, five decades. Sounds like a long time. It would be 350 in dog or cat years! The critters (pets) I've shared my life with. This book describes fifty years of living with some of the creatures of this planet other than humans. Most people have interactions with other animals (good and bad) at some point in their lives. Every person has some interesting story to tell about how they were affected by some pet or animal they came into contact with or were told about or read about. My story covers a roughly fifty-year period from early childhood up to when this story was published. There are many animals that I have interacted with that have affected me in some way. I have listed just the critters that I actually lived with. Some of the animals lead good long lives while others' times were cut short for one reason or another. Some of the critters are not your normal pets (squirrel). I have tried to keep the stories chronological, but many of the animals' stories overlapped with some of the other critters they shared their home with. Each one had its own personality, its own quirks, and its own endearments on my heart. Life has been richer because of the experiences I was able to share with these amazing animals.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Andrea Kott thought of herself as “the welfare Jew.” The daughter of a single mother whose depression and drinking pitched them into poverty, her stormy life looked nothing like that of the Jewish kids she knew: It defied every stereotype she associated with being Jewish—having an intact family and material wealth, and becoming a bat mitzvah. Alienated and ashamed, Kott felt ineligible to be Jewish, yet hungered for connection to the tradition and to God. It took a near-fatal accident, her mother’s death, marriage and motherhood, and losing a beloved brother for her to find her Jewish home. Salt on a Robin’s Tail: An Unlikely Jewish Journey Through Childhood, Forgiveness, and Hope is a true story of love and loss, struggle and survival, despair and possibility. It shatters stereotypes and inspires reconciliation with the painful past.

Authors Riddle and Harris begin by tracing the origins of the Eskimo peoples to whom these wonderful dogs first belonged, using the anthropologists' Theory of Radiation on prehistoric migration across the Bering Strait. They then tell the story of the central role that this heroic native dog has played in some of the most exciting and dangerous episodes in American history: the search for a Northwest passage to Asia, the Klondike gold rush, Admiral Byrd's explorations of the Antarctic. Malamutes even did their part in World War II, as pack and search-and-rescue dogs.
