This book provides a nostalgic slice of history seen through the eyes of adventurous youths in mid-twentieth-century Montana. Growing up in Great Falls, Montana, in the mid-twentieth century was a unique and challenging experience. My brother and I, along with our companions, took full advantage of the hunting and fishing venues near Great Falls in our quest for adventure. When we werenat hunting and fishing, we played baseball on scrubby grass fields in Gibson Park and hockey on the parkas frozen pond, and in barn-like arenas in the prairie towns of southern Alberta. Our family endured the Depression and dealt with the struggles imposed by World War II, so we had an enduring need for earning our own spending money by working on a variety of jobs.

Book excerpt: "Twilight Man is biography, romance, and nonfiction mystery, carrying with it the bite of fiction." -- Los Angeles Review of Books “In Twilight Man, Liz Brown uncovers a noir fairytale, a new glimpse into the opulent Gilded Age empire of the Clark family.” —Bill Dedman, co-author of The New York Times bestseller Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life of Huguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune The unbelievable true story of Harrison Post--the enigmatic lover of one of the richest men in 1920s Hollywood--and the battle for a family fortune. In the booming 1920s, William Andrews Clark Jr. was one of the richest, most respected men in Los Angeles. The son of the mining tycoon known as "The Copper King of Montana," Clark launched the Los Angeles Philharmonic and helped create the Hollywood Bowl. He was also a man with secrets, including a lover named Harrison Post. A former salesclerk, Post enjoyed a lavish existence among Hollywood elites, but the men's money--and their homosexuality--made them targets, for the district attorney, their employees and, in Post's case, his own family. When Clark died suddenly, Harrison Post inherited a substantial fortune--and a wealth of trouble. From Prohibition-era Hollywood to Nazi prison camps to Mexico City nightclubs, Twilight Man tells the story of an illicit love and the battle over a family estate that would destroy one man's life. Harrison Post was forgotten for decades, but after a chance encounter with his portrait, Liz Brown, Clark's great-grandniece, set out to learn his story. Twilight Man is more than just a biography. It is an exploration of how families shape their own legacies, and the lengths they will go in order to do so.

The human-landscape has been shaped by the violent collision of base instincts and conditioned consumer responses. Consume and fornicate! Fornicate and consume! Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Montana Kid Hammer continues his distinct brand of American old fashion storytelling tradition with,Back in the Saddle Again, the second novel inThe Old West Adventures of Ornery and Slimcowman series. Ornery, a schoolteacher and Civil War survivor turned veteran cowhand, and Slim, a young Philadelphia orphan now a part learned cowman continue to ride for the brand simply known as the O U T (Oh-Ewe-Tee) Spread.Their partnership is rekindled as they are back in their saddles again to face down cantankerous critters, the harsh western prairie elements, the lay of the land, payroll robbing outlaws, run away stagecoaches, countless dangers of a cattle drive, a cow hunt, along with some not so common cowmen calamities. Ornery and Slim labor to craft an ongoing relationship with the boss, their many pards, and their calico-gal friends, all while building a hearty proficiency around the cow craft of their day.The setting for this storybook is far less fictional and happens on the high plains of the very real North American frontier west, circa 1880's. Also shared is that time-honored cattleman's code of the west, the one so highly prevalent in the folk of the era, and played out by this tome's many matchless characters. Conveyed are humorous escapades of the cowmen as they ply their cow craft for the 'brand'. The anecdotal happenings are said so as to expose the wide range of cowman endeavors encountered along the trails and upon the plains of that very same unsettled frontier. This novel is designed to rekindle fond recollections of Old West evenings sat around campfires to a plethora of untold, yet hair-raising cowman tales. Here is a genuinely marvelous opportunity to return to those wild and wooly days of America's western yesteryear.
