Book excerpt: La conception et l'optimisation d'un procede plasma haute temperature pour la synthese de noirs de carbone structures par pyrolyse d'hydrocarbures sont les objectifs d'un programme de r & d dont la partie recherche est developpee simultanement suivant 2 axes : une analyse physico-chimique globale du pilote et une modelisation l'hydrodynamique du reacteur. Ce memoire represente l'ensemble des analyses realisees sur le reacteur et les produits. Elles nous ont permis de caracteriser le reacteur grace a des bilans macroscopiques et des mesures dans l'ecoulement plasma. Nous avons ensuite analyse les noirs de carbone plasma produits et tente de relier les conditions operatoires du pilote aux proprietes physico-chimiques des noirs de carbone obtenus. Les resultats presentes sont : bilans de matiere et d'energie sur l'ensemble du reacteur (taux de conversion par c.p.g.), caracterisation de l'ecoulement interne : d.t.s. Par cpg, champs de temperature de paroi par pyrometrie optique et de temperature de gaz par spectrometrie d'emission optique, et comparaison des resultats a des modeles numeriques de d.t.s. Et d'hydrodynamique. Les produits sont caracterises par diffraction des rayons-x (d.r.x.), spectroscopie de photoelectrons (x.p.s.) Associee a la spectroscopie d'electrons auger (a.e.s.) Et microscopie electronique en transmission (m.e.t.). La modelisation hydrodynamique du reacteur (travail de these de benjamin ravary) a permis l'obtention de champs de vitesse et de temperature qui permettent d'evaluer les conditions thermodynamiques rencontrees lors de la formation du noir de carbone. Les microstructures de ces noirs sont comparees a celle d'un graphite synthetique (reference structurale) ainsi qu'a celles de noirs de carbones commerciaux obtenus suivant deux autres modes de fabrication (procedes furnace et acetylene).
