Cette étude examine, d'un côté, la représentation sémantique et conceptuelle de différents types d'actes de langage dans une perspective comparative entre le français et le chinois, et d'autre côté, la réalisation linguistique dans ces langues menée par les natifs et les apprenants des langues étrangères d'un point de vue pragmalinguistique. En se basant sur les théories des actes de langage, cette étude s'inspire d'abord du modèle théorique de la sémantique des possible argumentatifs en raison de sa pertinence à analyser des structures représentationnelles, ensuite de diverses approches de la politesse linguistique selon leurs caractéristiques culturelles et sociales. Ce travail permet de découvrir les convergences et les divergences concernant les conceptualisations des actes de langage dans les langues française et chinoise, les raisons de l'événement des actes « menaçants » par les apprenants, et le développement des représentations sémantico-conceptuelles chez les sujets parlants à travers leurs productions linguistiques. Cette analyse va également révéler certains aspects qui provoquent des échecs pragmatiques de la part des apprenants. L'étude peut ainsi aider à améliorer l'acquisition de la compétence chez les apprenants.

Le concept d'espace interactif, propose pour fédérer des notions comme figuration, face, soi, relation, situation, renvoie à une pluralité d'images identitaires mise en oeuvre sumultanément par chacun des co-énonciateurs, jeu d'images exprimé en termes de rapports de places. Cette pluralité d'images identitaires correspond à la complexité du sujet, exprimée par Mead, et à l'hétérogénéité de toute instance énonciative. Le rapport de place dominant correspond au cadre interactif définitoire de l'interaction. Ces concepts conduisent à distinguer "interaction" et "rencontre" et permettent de développer, avec la notion de module, une nouvelle typologie des interactions fondée sur l'hétérogénéité et la coarticulation des types. Un bilan est également effectué à propos des analyses structurelles et hiérarchiques de l'interaction. Enfin, l'apport le plus spécifiquement linguistique consiste à prolonger les approches pragmatiques et énonciatives avec la notion d'activités discursives. La thèse s'achève avec un important travail sur les concepts exprimant ces diverses activités : référenciation, reprises, reformulations, implicites, implicitations, modalisations et modulations.

It starts with a discursive interpretation of ‘positioning’, ‘role’ and ‘challenge’, puts forward the relevance of a distinction between social and interactional roles, demonstrates how challenges bring to the fore the relevant roles and role-components of the participants, and shows that in news interviews speakers constantly position and re-position themselves and each other through discourse.The discussion draws on an empirical fine-grained analysis of a 24-hour corpus of news interviews on Israeli television and a corpus of media references. The author postulates a discrepancy between interlocutors’ normative expectations, which presuppose an asymmetrical division of labor, on the one hand, and real-life practice, which exhibits partial symmetry in speakers’ selection of discourse patterns as well as reciprocity in the use of challenge strategies, on the other. Special attention is given to irony and terms of address, which are shown to act as the center-points of satellite challenge strategies, geared as an ensemble toward the co-construction of reciprocal positioning. The analysis of three case studies further sheds light on the negotiations of intertwined positionings in context.
