Book Synopsis Readings in Object-Oriented Database Systems by : Stanley B. Zdonik
Download or read book Readings in Object-Oriented Database Systems written by Stanley B. Zdonik and published by Morgan Kaufmann. This book was released on 1990 with total page 646 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This comprehensive collection is a survey of research in object-oriented databases, offering a substantive overview of the field, section introductions, and over 40 research papers presented in their original scope and detail. The balanced selection of articles presents a confluence of ideas from both the language and database research communities that have contributed to the object-oriented paradigm. The editors develop a general definition and model for object-oriented databases and relate significant research efforts to this framework. Further, the collection explores the fundamental notions behind object-oriented databases, semantic data models, implementation of object-oriented systems, transaction processing, interfaces, and related approaches. Research and theory are balanced by applications to CAD systems, programming environments, and office information systems.

Book Synopsis Aspects of Kolmogorov Complexity the Physics of Information by : Bradley S. Tice
Download or read book Aspects of Kolmogorov Complexity the Physics of Information written by Bradley S. Tice and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-09-01 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research presented in Aspects of Kolmogorov Complexity addresses the fundamental standard of defining randomness as measured by a Martin-Lof level of randomness as found in random sequential binary strings. A classical study of statistics that addresses both a fundamental standard of statistics as well as an applied measure for statistical communication theory. The research points to compression levels in a random state that are greater than is found in current literature. A historical overview of the field of Kolmogorov Complexity and Algorithmic Information Theory, a subfield of Information Theory, is given as well as examples using a radix 3, radix 4, and radix 5 base numbers for both random and non-random sequential strings. The text also examines monochromatic and chromatic symbols and both theoretical and applied aspects of data compression as they relate to the transmission and storage of information. The appendix contains papers on the subject given at conferences and the references are current.ContentsTechnical topics addressed in Aspects of Kolmogorov Complexity include:• Statistical Communication Theory• Algorithmic Information Theory• Kolmogorov Complexity• Martin-Lof Randomness• Compression, Transmission and Storage of Information
Book Synopsis Satisfiability Problem by : Dingzhu Du
Download or read book Satisfiability Problem written by Dingzhu Du and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1997-01-01 with total page 778 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The satisfiability (SAT) problem is central in mathematical logic, computing theory, and many industrial applications. There has been a strong relationship between the theory, the algorithms, and the applications of the SAT problem. This book aims to bring together work by the best theorists, algorithmists, and practitioners working on the sat problem and on industrial applications, as well as to enhance the interaction between the three research groups. The book features the applications of theoretical/algorithmic results to practical problems and presents practical examples for theoretical/algoritmic study. Major topics covered in the book include practical and industial SAT problems and benchmarks, significant case studies and applications of the SAT problem and SAT algorithms, new algorithms and improved techniques for satisfiability testing, specific data structures and implementation details of the SAT algorithms, and the theoretical study of the SAT problem and SAT algorithms.

Book Synopsis Applied Algebra, Algebraic Algorithms and Error-Correcting Codes by : Serdar Boztas
Download or read book Applied Algebra, Algebraic Algorithms and Error-Correcting Codes written by Serdar Boztas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-06-30 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The AAECC Symposia Series was started in 1983 by Alain Poli (Toulouse), who, together with R. Desq, D. Lazard, and P. Camion, organized the ?rst conference. Originally the acronym AAECC meant “Applied Algebra and Error-Correcting Codes”. Over the years its meaning has shifted to “Applied Algebra, Algebraic Algorithms, and Error-Correcting Codes”, re?ecting the growing importance of complexity in both decoding algorithms and computational algebra. AAECC aims to encourage cross-fertilization between algebraic methods and their applications in computing and communications. The algebraic orientation is towards ?nite ?elds, complexity, polynomials, and graphs. The applications orientation is towards both theoretical and practical error-correction coding, and, since AAECC 13 (Hawaii, 1999), towards cryptography. AAECC was the ?rst symposium with papers connecting Gr ̈obner bases with E-C codes. The balance between theoretical and practical is intended to shift regularly; at AAECC-14 the focus was on the theoretical side. The main subjects covered were: – Codes: iterative decoding, decoding methods, block codes, code construction. – Codes and algebra: algebraic curves, Gr ̈obner bases, and AG codes. – Algebra: rings and ?elds, polynomials. – Codes and combinatorics: graphs and matrices, designs, arithmetic. – Cryptography. – Computational algebra: algebraic algorithms. – Sequences for communications.
