Hoskins and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of the inspection was to make an assessment of the general condition of the dam with respect to safety, based upon available data and visual inspection, in order to determine if the dam poses hazards to human life or property. The inspection and evaluation indicates that the spillway does not meet the criteria set forth in the guidelines for a dam having the above size and hazard potential. The spillway will pass 46% of the Probable Maximum Flood without overtopping the dam. The Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) is defined as the flood that may be expected from the most severe combination of critical meteorologic and hydrologic conditions that are reasonably possible in the region. An additional deficiency, in accordance with the guidelines, is the lack of seepage analysis. These analyses should be obtained in the future. Other deficiencies visually observed by the inspection team were spalling of spillway concrete, open joints in the spillway, some deterioration of riprap, bank erosion at the end of the spillway stilling basin and erosion in a few small areas on the upstream slope.

The inspection and evaluation indicates that the spillway does not meet the criteria set forth in the guidelines for a dam having the above size and hazard potential. The spillway will pass the 100-year frequency flood as well as 40% of the Probable Maximum Flood without overtopping the dam. Additional deficiencies, in accordance with the guidelines, are the lack of seepage and stability analysis. These analyses should be obtained in the future.

Decker and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The dam is an earth fill approximately 5700 feet in length with a maximum height of about 20 feet. The dam is constructed on three sides of a square and impounds discharges from Trenton Upper Lake. The reservoir covers about 105 acres of nearly level bottomland adjacent to the east side of Muddy Creek on the eastern outskirts of Trenton, Missouri. The spillway consists of an ungated concrete chute with an 8 foot bottom width. The spillway is located in the west leg of the dam some 700 feet north of the southwest corner of the dam. Our inspection and evaluation indicates that the spillway does not meet the criteria set forth in the recommended guidelines for an intermediate dam having a high hazard potential. The Probable Maximum Flood is the appropriate spillway design flood. The spillway will pass the 100-year flood (flood having a one percent chance of being exceeded in any year) without overtopping the dam. The spillway will pass 55% of the Probable Maximum Flood without overtopping the dam.

Hoskins and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bethany City Reservoir Dam was inspected by an interdisciplinary team of engineers. The purpose of the inspection was to make an assessment of the general condition of the dam with respect to safety, based upon available data and visual inspection, in order to determine if the dam poses hazards to human life or property. Our inspection and evaluation indicates that the spillway does not meet the criteria set forth in the guidelines for a dam having the above size and hazard potential. The spillway will pass 25% of the Probable Maximum Flood without overtopping the dam. The Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) is defined as the flood that may be expected from the most severe combination of critical meteorologic and hydrologic conditions that are reasonably possible in the region. Additional deficiencies, in accordance with the guidelines, are the lack of seepage and stability analysis. These analyses should be obtained in the future. Other deficiencies visually observed by the inspection team were many small trees and brush growing on both embankment slopes, rodent holes and burrows on the downstream slope, a small crack parallel to and downstream from the centerline of the dam, a bulged area in the embankment downstream from the crack, a boil adjacent to the pumphouse caused by a broken water main and spalling of the concrete in the cap on the spillway.

Book excerpt: The purpose of the inspection was to make an assessment of the general conditions of the dam with respect to safety, based upon available data and visual inspection, in order to determine if the dam poses hazards to human life or property. The inspection and evaluation indicate that the spillway does not meet the minimum criteria set forth in the recommended guidelines for an intermediate dam having a high hazard potential. The Probable Maximum Flood is the appropriate spillway design flood. The spillway will pass the 100-year flood (a flood having a 1 percent probability of being exceeded in any year) without overtopping the dam. The spillway will pass 55 percent of the Probable Maximum Flood without overtopping the dam. The Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) is defined as the flood that may be expected from the most severe combination of critical meteorologic and hydrologic conditions that are reasonably possible in the region. The height of the dam should be increased and/or the spillway size or shape should be changed to pass the Probable Maximum Flood without overtopping the dam.
