Book excerpt: Excerpt from Minutes of the 58th Annual Session of the Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Association: Held With Hooks Grove Baptist Church, Pikeville, N. C., October 9, 10 and 12, 1930 Devotional exercises were conducted by Rev. C. S. Moody and Rev. H. B. Joyner. Rev. Moody introduced services by lining I heard the voice of Jesus say. Rev. Moody read Hebrews 11 - 1 to 10. Prayer by Rev. Joyner. The Reverend offered thanks for the many past blessings, Many that met here 'with us when our last Association convened here. Seats are vacant. The Reverend pled for the visitation of the Holy Spirit. He was strong in his petition. Rev. Moody continued service by singing I will be satisfied. The Moderator now called for expression. Rev. H. B. Joyner, Bro. O. R; Shepard, Bro. L. S. Swinson, Bro. H. C. Carroll, Rev. J. H. Huston, Dr. C. C. Summerville, Bro. Marshall Grantham, Bro. Julius Grantham, Bro. Henry Draughn and Bro. T. I. Patterson' all made some very timely remarks. They expressed themselves as being in peace and harmony. The Moderator in a. Few instructive remarks called for the roll of delegates and messengers. Amount collected The Finance Committee was named. E. C. Foye, T. I. Patterson and O. R. Shepard. The Association now suspended business to hear the Introductory sermon to be preached by Rev. R. W.
