Book excerpt: The history has been in charge of demonstrating that the struggle to which Martin Luther King gave his whole life was decisive in changing the history of millions of people. This is often exposed from a romantic perspective, few people know the sufferings and extreme dangers to which he was subjected, not only he but his entire family, throughout many years defending a dream that, like the biblical Moses that he mentioned so much in life, came, but he could neither see nor enjoy. The book that you have in your hands narrates in a simple but in depth way the life of one of the greatest fighters for human rigths that has been born in the West.Others before him and after him fought tirelessly for the civil rights of minorities in the country, but no one achieved what the Reverend King Jr..

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The best-selling phenomenon from Japan that shows us a minimalist life is a happy life. Fumio Sasaki is not an enlightened minimalism expert or organizing guru like Marie Kondo—he’s just a regular guy who was stressed out and constantly comparing himself to others, until one day he decided to change his life by saying goodbye to everything he didn’t absolutely need. The effects were remarkable: Sasaki gained true freedom, new focus, and a real sense of gratitude for everything around him. In Goodbye, Things Sasaki modestly shares his personal minimalist experience, offering specific tips on the minimizing process and revealing how the new minimalist movement can not only transform your space but truly enrich your life. The benefits of a minimalist life can be realized by anyone, and Sasaki’s humble vision of true happiness will open your eyes to minimalism’s potential.

Projekte en Münster (1997) ; La Casa, il Corpo, il Cuore: Konstruktion der Identitaeten, Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig, Viena (1999) ; Urban Visions, Worcester Art Museum, Worcester, Massachusetts (1999) ; Manifesta 3, Liubliana, Eslovenia (2000) ; Guggenheim Museum, Nueva York (2001); Kuenstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlín, Alemania (2001) ; y Max Protetch Gallery, Nueva York (2002).

Book excerpt: Hundreds of grassroots groups have sprung up around the world to teach programming, web design, robotics, and other skills outside traditional classrooms. These groups exist so that people don't have to learn these things on their own, but ironically, their founders and instructors are often teaching themselves how to teach. There's a better way. This book presents evidence-based practices that will help you create and deliver lessons that work and build a teaching community around them. Topics include the differences between different kinds of learners, diagnosing and correcting misunderstandings, teaching as a performance art, what motivates and demotivates adult learners, how to be a good ally, fostering a healthy community, getting the word out, and building alliances with like-minded groups. The book includes over a hundred exercises that can be done individually or in groups, over 350 references, and a glossary to help you navigate educational jargon.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The future of work is remote. That means we need more remote leaders. Empowering employees to work from home requires strong, clear leadership, for it to become a viable and sustainable option for more companies, across all industries. Remote leadership needs leaders who are comfortable and confident leading their teams from a distance. And while it's easy to find resources about remote work and location independent jobs, effective remote leadership is often left to chance - with companies instead blaming the failure of remote working on the fact that it's remote rather than a failure of leadership.Enjoy 60+ pages full of knowledge, ideas and tools to successfully lead your remote team from wherever you are. Whether you are already a seasoned remote leader, or you are just starting out creating (or inheriting) your first location-independent team, this guide will help you to hit the ground running. The book is written with mainly support organizations in mind, but readers of the pre-release version have pointed out that many of the ideas and tools are equally valid for other location independent teams.

Science and technology reporter and recovering digital addict Daniel Sieberg has devised a foolproof 4-step plan to help you regain control, focus, and true connection in your life. Step 1//Re: Think: Consider how technology has overwhelmed our society and the effect it’s had on your physical, mental, and emotional health. Step 2//Re: Boot: Take stock of your digital intake using Sieberg’s Virtual Weight Index and step back from the device. Step 3//Re: Connect: Focus on restoring the relationships that have been harmed by the technology in your life. Step 4//Re: Vitalize: Learn how to live with technology—the healthy way, by optimizing your time spent e-mailing, texting, on Facebook, and web surfing. This program will enable families to communicate better, employees to be more productive, and friends to stay in touch. Book excerpt: A beautiful book on the famed Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas The Chinati Foundation, a world-famous destination for large-scale contemporary art, was founded by Donald Judd (1928-1994) to preserve and present a select number of permanent installations that were inextricably linked to the surrounding landscape in Marfa, Texas. This handsome publication, first published in 2010 and now available with a new chapter devoted to the permanent installation by Robert Irwin that was inaugurated in 2016 and a new foreword by Jenny Moore, director of the Chinati Foundation, describes how Judd developed his ideas of the role of art and museums from the early 1960s onward, culminating in the creation of Chinati. The individual installations featured here include work by John Chamberlain, Dan Flavin, David Rabinowitch, Roni Horn, Ilya Kabakov, Richard Long, Ingólfur Arnarsson, Carl Andre, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje Van Bruggen, and John Wesley, as well as by Judd himself. The book also features a complete catalogue of the collection and writings by Judd relating to Chinati and Marfa. Published in association with the Chinati Foundation/La Fundación Chinati
