Modern GPS coordinates have been associated with most records to allow the reader to do a little "prospecting from their computer", using available on-line tools such as Google Earth. In this book many of the locations have been reviewed using Google Earth, especially when attempting to locate the mine through the use of the coordinates. This allows the locations of the coordinate points to be visibly identified; and, in many cases the best ways to access them. Where I have been able to find a reference as to the "location accuracy" of the coordinates, I have included it. Mapping tools, like Google Earth, allow the reader to pursue their interests and review locations when the weather is bad or they only have limited blocks of time. It also will allow the reader to maximize their use of time when they can physically visit the areas, after getting permission of the Owners, when necessary. Also, as a benefit to physical site visitors, many of the mines have been grouped by Mining District, where such existed.

I believe the most surprising thing about the Los Angeles County data, at least to me, was the large number of Gold occurrences in Los Angeles County. The book contains over 200 entries related to Gold properties, roughly split half Lode and half Placer. I never realized the amount of Gold mining that took place in and around this area, now viewed as a teaming metropolis. In addition there are also a good number of Silver, Copper, Lead, Zinc, Tungsten, Manganese and other such mines, included in the book.In this book a number of the locations have been reviewed using Google Earth and the results are included in a Comment section at the end of the entry. Tools like Google Earth allow the reader to pursue their interests and review locations when the weather is bad or they only have limited blocks of time. It also will allow the reader to maximize their use of time when they can physically visit the areas. Also, as a benefit to physical site visitors, many of the mines have been grouped by Mining District, where such existed. A paperback version of this e-book has been created due to numerous requests that I have received from readers and from individuals and organizations in California, Arizona and Nevada.
