Book Synopsis Méthodes mathématiques et numériques pour les équations aux dérivées partielles by : CHASKALOVIC Joël
Download or read book Méthodes mathématiques et numériques pour les équations aux dérivées partielles written by CHASKALOVIC Joël and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2013-01-21 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations by : Vitoriano Ruas
Download or read book Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations written by Vitoriano Ruas and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-08-22 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations: An Introduction Vitoriano Ruas, Sorbonne Universités, UPMC - Université Paris 6, France A comprehensive overview of techniques for the computational solution of PDE's Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations: An Introduction covers the three most popular methods for solving partial differential equations: the finite difference method, the finite element method and the finite volume method. The book combines clear descriptions of the three methods, their reliability, and practical implementation aspects. Justifications for why numerical methods for the main classes of PDE's work or not, or how well they work, are supplied and exemplified. Aimed primarily at students of Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics and Chemistry among others this book offers a substantial insight into the principles numerical methods in this class of problems are based upon. The book can also be used as a reference for research work on numerical methods for PDE’s. Key features: A balanced emphasis is given to both practical considerations and a rigorous mathematical treatment The reliability analyses for the three methods are carried out in a unified framework and in a structured and visible manner, for the basic types of PDE's Special attention is given to low order methods, as practitioner's overwhelming default options for everyday use New techniques are employed to derive known results, thereby simplifying their proof Supplementary material is available from a companion website.

Book Synopsis Advances in Dynamic Games and Applications by : Eitan Altmann
Download or read book Advances in Dynamic Games and Applications written by Eitan Altmann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-07-20 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Game theory is a rich and active area of research of which this new volume of the Annals of the International Society of Dynamic Games is yet fresh evidence. Since the second half of the 20th century, the area of dynamic games has man aged to attract outstanding mathematicians, who found exciting open questions requiring tools from a wide variety of mathematical disciplines; economists, so cial and political scientists, who used game theory to model and study competition and cooperative behavior; and engineers, who used games in computer sciences, telecommunications, and other areas. The contents of this volume are primarily based on selected presentation made at the 8th International Symposium of Dynamic Games and Applications, held in Chateau Vaalsbroek, Maastricht, the Netherlands, July 5-8, 1998; this conference took place under the auspices of the International Society of Dynamic Games (ISDG), established in 1990. The conference has been cosponsored by the Control Systems Society of the IEEE, IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Con trol), INRIA (Institute National de Recherche en Informatique et Automatique), and the University of Maastricht. One ofthe activities of the ISDG is the publica tion of the Annals. Every paper that appears in this volume has passed through a stringent reviewing process, as is the case with publications for archival journals.
Book Synopsis Non-Classical Continuum Mechanics by : R. J. Knops
Download or read book Non-Classical Continuum Mechanics written by R. J. Knops and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1987-09-24 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains a selection of the invited papers presented at a LMS Durham Symposium on modern developments in non-classical continuum mechanics. A major aim was to bring together workers in both the abstract and practical aspects of the subject in order to achieve enhanced appreciation of each others' approach and hence of the mathematical techniques and physical intuition essential for successful research in this field. As a result, the present collection consists of a series of concise articles which are introductions to, and succinct accounts of, current activity in many branches of non-classical continuum mechanics. Research workers in applied mathematics, physics, theoretical mechanics, and structural and aeronautical engineering will find much of interest in this collection.

Book Synopsis Nonlinear Hyperbolic Equations — Theory, Computation Methods, and Applications by : Josef Ballmann
Download or read book Nonlinear Hyperbolic Equations — Theory, Computation Methods, and Applications written by Josef Ballmann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 729 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the occasion of the International Conference on Nonlinear Hyperbolic Problems held in St. Etienne, France, 1986 it was decided to start a two years cycle of conferences on this very rapidly expanding branch of mathematics and it·s applications in Continuum Mechanics and Aerodynamics. The second conference toolc place in Aachen, FRG, March 14-18, 1988. The number of more than 200 participants from more than 20 countries all over the world and about 100 invited and contributed papers, well balanced between theory, numerical analysis and applications, do not leave any doubt that it was the right decision to start this cycle of conferences, of which the third will be organized in Sweden in 1990. ThiS volume contains sixty eight original papers presented at the conference, twenty two cif them dealing with the mathematical theory, e.g. existence, uniqueness, stability, behaviour of solutions, physical modelling by evolution equations. Twenty two articles in numerical analysis are concerned with stability and convergence to the physically relevant solutions such as schemes especially deviced for treating shoclcs, contact discontinuities and artificial boundaries. Twenty four papers contain multidimensional computational applications to nonlinear waves in solids, flow through porous media and compressible fluid flow including shoclcs, real gas effects, multiphase phenomena, chemical reactions etc. The editors and organizers of the Second International Conference on Hyperbolic Problems would lilce to thanlc the Scientific Committee for the generous support of recommending invited lectures and selecting the contributed papers of the conference.
