Book Synopsis Application of a One-strip Integral Method to the Unsteady Supersonic Aerodynamics of an Inclined Flat Surface by : Robert M. Bennett
Download or read book Application of a One-strip Integral Method to the Unsteady Supersonic Aerodynamics of an Inclined Flat Surface written by Robert M. Bennett and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The method of integral relations is applied in a one-strip approximation to the perturbation equations governing small motions of an inclined, sharp-edged, flat surface about the mean supersonic steady flow. Algebraic expressions for low reduced-frequency aerodynamics are obtained and a set of ordinary differential equations are obtained for general oscillatory motion. Results are presented for low reduced-frequency aerodynamics and for the variation of the unsteady forces with frequency. The method gives accurate results for the aerodynamic forces at low reduced frequency which are in good agreement with available experimental data. However, for cases in which the aerodynamic forces vary rapidly with frequency, the results are qualitatively correct, but of limited accuracy. Calculations indicate that for a range of inclination angles near shock detachment such that the flow in the shock layer is low supersonic, the aerodynamic forces vary rapidly both with inclination angle and with reduced frequency.
Book Synopsis Integral Equation Methods in Scattering Theory by : David Colton
Download or read book Integral Equation Methods in Scattering Theory written by David Colton and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2013-11-15 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This classic book provides a rigorous treatment of the Riesz?Fredholm theory of compact operators in dual systems, followed by a derivation of the jump relations and mapping properties of scalar and vector potentials in spaces of continuous and H?lder continuous functions. These results are then used to study scattering problems for the Helmholtz and Maxwell equations. Readers will benefit from a full discussion of the mapping properties of scalar and vector potentials in spaces of continuous and H?lder continuous functions, an in-depth treatment of the use of boundary integral equations to solve scattering problems for acoustic and electromagnetic waves, and an introduction to inverse scattering theory with an emphasis on the ill-posedness and nonlinearity of the inverse scattering problem.
Book Synopsis Calculation of Laminar Separation with Free Interaction by the Method of Integral Relations by : Jack Norman Nielsen
Download or read book Calculation of Laminar Separation with Free Interaction by the Method of Integral Relations written by Jack Norman Nielsen and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A calculative method is presented for determining separated, laminar, boundary-layer characteristics from in front of the separation point to the reattachment point under the influence of 'free interaction' between the main flow and the boundary layer. The analysis covers supersonic flow over two-dimensional and axisymmetric configurations with adiabatic or nonadiabatic wall conditions. For nonadiabatic wall conditions, theories based on first-order coupling and second-order coupling between velocity and total temperature profiles were presented. The theory based on first-order coupling was included in a machine calculation program with options for two-dimensional or axisymmetric flow and adiabatic or nonadiabatic wall conditions. Extensive systematic calculations were made to determine the range of possible separated flows over a two-dimensional configuration as a function of separation point location and wall temperatures. Comparison between experiment and theory for separation pressure distributions on two-dimensional or axisymmetric adiabatic configurations shows generally good agreement. Good comparison between experiment and theory is indicated for a moderately-cooled axisymmetric configuration. For a highly-cooled axisymmetric configuration, the prediction of the machine program based on first-order coupling is inadequate, indicating the necessity for a higher-order coupling theory." -- page iii.

Book Synopsis Techniques of Functional Analysis for Differential and Integral Equations by : Paul Sacks
Download or read book Techniques of Functional Analysis for Differential and Integral Equations written by Paul Sacks and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2017-05-16 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Techniques of Functional Analysis for Differential and Integral Equations describes a variety of powerful and modern tools from mathematical analysis, for graduate study and further research in ordinary differential equations, integral equations and partial differential equations. Knowledge of these techniques is particularly useful as preparation for graduate courses and PhD research in differential equations and numerical analysis, and more specialized topics such as fluid dynamics and control theory. Striking a balance between mathematical depth and accessibility, proofs involving more technical aspects of measure and integration theory are avoided, but clear statements and precise alternative references are given . The work provides many examples and exercises drawn from the literature. - Provides an introduction to mathematical techniques widely used in applied mathematics and needed for advanced research in ordinary and partial differential equations, integral equations, numerical analysis, fluid dynamics and other areas - Establishes the advanced background needed for sophisticated literature review and research in differential equations and integral equations - Suitable for use as a textbook for a two semester graduate level course for M.S. and Ph.D. students in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics

Book Synopsis Modelling Electroanalytical Experiments by the Integral Equation Method by : Lesław K. Bieniasz
Download or read book Modelling Electroanalytical Experiments by the Integral Equation Method written by Lesław K. Bieniasz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-12-29 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This comprehensive presentation of the integral equation method as applied to electro-analytical experiments is suitable for electrochemists, mathematicians and industrial chemists. The discussion focuses on how integral equations can be derived for various kinds of electroanalytical models. The book begins with models independent of spatial coordinates, goes on to address models in one dimensional space geometry and ends with models dependent on two spatial coordinates. Bieniasz considers both semi-infinite and finite spatial domains as well as ways to deal with diffusion, convection, homogeneous reactions, adsorbed reactants and ohmic drops. Bieniasz also discusses mathematical characteristics of the integral equations in the wider context of integral equations known in mathematics. Part of the book is devoted to the solution methodology for the integral equations. As analytical solutions are rarely possible, attention is paid mostly to numerical methods and relevant software. This book includes examples taken from the literature and a thorough literature overview with emphasis on crucial aspects of the integral equation methodology.
Book Synopsis Boundary Integral Methods by : Luigi Morino
Download or read book Boundary Integral Methods written by Luigi Morino and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains edited papers from IABEM-90, the 1990 Symposium of the Interna tional Association for Boundary Element Methods (IABEM). As stated in the By-Laws of the Association, the purposes of IABEM are: 1. to promote the international exchange of technical information related to the devel opment and application of boundary-integral equation (BIE) formulations and their numerical implementation to problems in engineering and science, commonly referred to as the boundary element method (BEM); 2. to promote research and development activities for the advancement of boundary integral equation methods and boundary element solution algorithms; 3. to foster closer personal relationships within the BEM community of researchers. The objectives of the Symposium, in line with those of the Association, was to provide a forum where the two "souls" of the Association, i. e. , (i) mathematical foundations and numerical aspects, and (ii) engineering applications could be integrated. We believe that the first aspect has been neglected in too many of the BEM Symposia held in the past, which, with a few exceptions (notably, the IUTAM Symposia on the subject) have emphasized the practical aspects of the method. As a consequence, we have tried to give a stronger emphasis to the more theoretical issues: this is attested for instance, by the fact that the two general lectures were given by Prof. Gaetano Fichera, of the University of Rome "La Sapienza," and Prof.
