Book Synopsis Aristoteles: Metaphysik, Nikomachische Ethik, Das Organon, Die Physik & Die Dichtkunst by : Aristoteles
Download or read book Aristoteles: Metaphysik, Nikomachische Ethik, Das Organon, Die Physik & Die Dichtkunst written by Aristoteles and published by e-artnow. This book was released on 2017-06-21 with total page 2019 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Thinking with Kierkegaard by : Arne Grøn
Download or read book Thinking with Kierkegaard written by Arne Grøn and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2022-12-31 with total page 666 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arne Grøn’s reading of Søren Kierkegaard’s authorship revolves around existential challenges of human identity. The 35 essays that constitute this book are written over three decades and are characterized by combining careful attention to the augmentative detail of Kierkegaard’s text with a constant focus on issues in contemporary philosophy. Contrary to many approaches to Kierkegaard’s authorship, Grøn does not read Kierkegaard in opposition to Hegel. The work of the Danish thinker is read as a critical development of Hegelian phenomenology with particular attention to existential aspects of human experience. Anxiety and despair are the primary existential phenomena that Kierkegaard examines throughout his authorship, and Grøn uses these negative phenomena to argue for the basically ethical aim of Kierkegaard’s work. In Grøn’s reading, Kierkegaard conceives human selfhood not merely as relational, but also a process of becoming the self that one is through the otherness of self-experience, that is, the body, the world, other people, and God. This book should be of interest to philosophers, theologians, literary studies scholars, and anyone with an interest not only in Kierkegaard, but also in human identity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Schiller written by Nicholas Martin and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2006 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To mark the 200th anniversary of Schiller's death, leading scholars from Germany, Canada, the UK and the USA have contributed to this volume of commemorative essays. These were first presented at a symposium held at the University of Birmingham in June 2005. The essays collected here shed important new light on Schiller's standing as a national and transnational figure, both in his own lifetime and in the two hundred years since his death. Issues explored include: aspects of Schiller's life and work which contributed to the creation of heroic and nationalist myths of the poet during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; his activities as man of the theatre and publisher in his own, pre-national context; the (trans-)national dimensions of Schiller's poetic and dramatic achievement in their contemporary context and with reference to later appropriations of national(ist) elements in his work. The contributions to this volume illuminate Schiller's achievements as poet, playwright, thinker and historian, and bring acute insights to bear on both the history of his impact in a variety of contexts and his enduring importance as a point of cultural reference.

Book Synopsis Ethische Fragen der "Behinderung". Ethical Challenges of Disability by : Marie-Jo Thiel
Download or read book Ethische Fragen der "Behinderung". Ethical Challenges of Disability written by Marie-Jo Thiel and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2014 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: People with disabilities still face many challenges, barriers, discrimination and exclusion. Considerable progress has transformed their lives in recent decades, but many challenges remain, in part because the policy cannot do everything and that is to change mentalities. This book discusses ethical issues about inclusion, recognition, solidarity, governance, civic engagement, the ability to lead a 'normal life', to work, to raise a family. It delves into the 'world of disability' and invites all to construct a society which accommodates differences and weaknesses.
Book Synopsis Studien zur Entstehungsgeschichte und Intention des Kolosserbriefs by : Angela Standhartinger
Download or read book Studien zur Entstehungsgeschichte und Intention des Kolosserbriefs written by Angela Standhartinger and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2014-04-09 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume examines the Epistle to the Colossians as a pseudepigraphic letter. It is concerned with how different traditions associated with Paul and his thought were appropriated by Pauline communities in the aftermath of his death. Extensive attention is paid to the possibility of Colossians' interaction with oral traditions, which includes consideration of the oral context for Paul's own correspondence and ministry. In recovering these traditions, Colossians creates a heavenly letter and a testament, designed so as to assure readers of the apostle's ongoing aid and to interpret the theological significance of his death. The analysis of different literary and rhetorical characteristics of Colossians (pseudephigraphy, orality, etc.) is placed within the context of both contemporaneous Jewish (esp. Sapiential) traditions and the traditions of the Greco-Roman philosophic schools. One chapter deals with the origin and purpose of the 'Haustafel'.
Book Synopsis Nietzsche Pursued by : Richard Schacht
Download or read book Nietzsche Pursued written by Richard Schacht and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2024-09-25 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An ambitious venture into Nietzsche’s envisioned philosophy for the future. Nietzsche advocated for a post-theistic “philosophy of the future”—a new approach to human reality that would bend Western thought away from nihilism in a life-affirming, value-creative direction. His early demise left this endeavor only just begun. In Nietzsche Pursued, Richard Schacht examines Nietzsche’s revisionist approach to familiar philosophical topics, exploring how some may be further pursued in Nietzschean ways. Each chapter focuses on one topic that is central to Nietzsche's vision of what philosophy can and should be and do. Among them: his kind of naturalism, humanity, perspectivism, morality, and music. Building on his analysis in Nietzsche’s Kind of Philosophy, Schacht invites readers to see with new appreciation the ongoing significance of Nietzsche’s thought for philosophy’s future.
