Book excerpt: In June 2010, Greg Fettig began a battle that would ultimately change the course of his life. Already involved in the Tea Party movement in Indiana, he started a campaign to target an icon of Washington elitism, six-term US Senator Richard Lugar, and ultimately oust him from power. He had no idea that the eighteen-month journey ahead would be fraught with twists and turns, bribes, threats, attacks, deception, and betrayal. An inside look into the dark underbelly of politics, Tea Party on Safari takes you behind the scenes of one battle in an all-out war for the heart and soul of the Republican Party. Fettig, along with fellow Tea Party patriot Monica Boyer, united under the banner of constitutional conservatism and set out to reclaim the Republican Party by purging it of RINOsand they started with Senator Lugar. Voting Lugar out of office remained their goal, and they pursued it with steady resolve. With Fettig and Boyer at the helm, the unified Tea Party waged the largest grass roots political campaign ever conducted in the young movements history, seeking to send shockwaves of fear to the Washington, DC, establishment of both national political parties.

Book excerpt: People think there is nothing about snake to study to relate to human life. I myself didnt know one could study snake to relate to everyday life. Why should we study such a disabled animal to become able men of high repute? As matter of fact, Evang. Zimboiant has let us know that snake is Satan himself, and so one must be very shrewd as Satan before he or she will be able to detect the devices of Satan in this world. In this book, Evang. Zimboiant uses cobra and emerald boa to digest his two types of isolationnegative isolation and positive isolation. He also uses cobra to elaborate on what he calls elements of focus and barriers to focus. How he uses the way anaconda catches his prey to relate to the shrewdness of the devil is very inspiring and interesting to read even the rest of the text. As a matter of fact, you will understand why Satan came to steal, kill and destroy. Satan tries to hide the actual truth about our God, twists Scriptures to fit his purposes and offers counterfeit promises he cant fulfil. He always seeks an opportune time to tempt us. However, Evang. Zimboiant has perfectly revealed the craftiness of Satan, which will let you understand why Apostle Peter said: Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8), and to which Apostle Paul also added Do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place [lest you give a foothold] to the devil. (Ephesians 4:26-27) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

It reviews and critiques data and ideas from paleontology and neontology (herpetology), as well as ideas from morphological and molecular phylogenetics. The author reviews the anatomy and morphology of extant snakes. Methods are also critiqued, including those empirical and theoretical methods employed to hypothesize ancestral ecologies for snakes. The modern debate on squamate phylogeny and snake ingroup phylogeny using molecules and morphology is examined critically to provide insights on origins and evolution. Key Features Important major evolutionary transformation in vertebrate evolution Continuing historical debate in vertebrate paleontology Of wide interest to a core audience of paleontologists, herpetologists, and morphologists Author acknowledged as prominent contributor to debate over snake origins Based on remarkable well preserved fossil specimens

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the years following World War II, the world’s biggest dam was almost built in Hells Canyon on the Snake River in Idaho. Karl Boyd Brooks tells the story of the dam controversy, which became a referendum not only on public-power expansion but also on the environmental implications of the New Deal’s natural resources and economic policy. Private-power critics of the Hells Canyon High Dam posed difficult questions about the implications of damming rivers to create power and to grow crops. Activists, attorneys, and scientists pioneered legal tactics and political rhetoric that would help to define the environmental movement in the 1960s. The debate, however, was less about endangered salmon or threatened wild country and more about who would control land and water and whether state enterprise or private capital would oversee the supply of electricity. By thwarting the dam’s construction, Snake Basin irrigators retained control over water as well as economic and political power in Idaho, putting the state on a postwar path that diverged markedly from that of bordering states. In the end, the opponents of the dam were responsible for preserving high deserts and mountain rivers from radical change. With Public Power, Private Dams, Karl Brooks makes an important contribution not only to the history of the Pacific Northwest and the region’s anadromous fisheries but also to the environmental history of the United States in the period after World War II.
