Download or read book Creep of Soils written by J. Feda and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1992-06-25 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume, soil creep is analysed within the framework of other soil-rheological phenomena, such as stress relaxation and long-term resistance, to present an in-depth discussion of the effect of time on soil behaviour. As time is the only state parameter which cannot be entirely modelled in the laboratory, the presented extrapolation is based upon a combination of appropriate theoretical analysis, and the principles of the physical behaviour of soils affected by state parameters such as porosity, water content, stress, strain, time and temperature. Principal macro- and microrheological theories are analysed, and a comprehensive picture of the soil structure and of the effect of state parameters is presented, documented by the author's experiments and illustrated by many examples. The theory of hereditary creep was selected as the best theory serving the author's purpose to propose simple constitutive relations governing creep of soils. The proposed constitutive relations have been implemented into FEM programs and the effect of the time factor has been demonstrated by the solution of such boundary value problems as a dams and underground tunnels. This volume should be of interest to civil engineers, scientists, research and postgraduate students, and advanced undergraduates.

This book was released on 1965 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The application of the linearized theorized of Robotnov and Shesterikov and of Onat and Wang to creep buckling is examined and an investigation of the associated disturbance-response behavior is made. It is shown that a precise and consistent criterion for stability that has both theoretical and experimental support is possible within the scope of linearized theory. The linearization procedure of Onat and wang is extended to multiaxial stress states and the problem of a compressively loaded rectangular plate subject to creep is analyzed. (Author).

Book Synopsis Proceedings of Symposium on Aerothermoelasticity by : David M. Jones
Download or read book Proceedings of Symposium on Aerothermoelasticity written by David M. Jones and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 1028 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A symposium on Aerothermoelasticity was held to present the latest significant developments in each scientific area and engineering area that comprise the component parts of this technology. New and significant contributions were presented in four technical areas consisting of dynamic aerothermoelasticity (flutter), stability and control, thermodynamics and aerodynamics (or aerothermodynamics), and structures including material and construction concepts. Categories important and significant to each technical area are discussed state-of-the-art wise. In addition, 26 separate papers are given on items of special importance.
