This book was released on 1962 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new technique is studied for the simultaneous, independent and continuous measurement of the temperature, salinity and velocity at a point in a flowing water solution by means of electrical measurements of the electrolytic conductivity and dielectric constant of the medium. The instrumentation is capable of high sensitivity and rapid response, limited only by the physical size of the probe, and small sensors are relatively easy to construct in a simple and durable configuration. The methods are applied to measurements in sea water and tap water.

Book Synopsis Development of High-temperature Strain Gages by : J. W. Pitts
Download or read book Development of High-temperature Strain Gages written by J. W. Pitts and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A summary is presented of a research program aimed at the improvement of high-temperature strain gages of the electrical resistance type. Potential ceramic and metal components were evaluated and a gage was devised that was based on these evaluations. This gage (NBS 5B) was flexible and easy to install; however, it lacked resistance stability at higher temperatures. In an attempt to minimize this deficiency, ceramic cements were developed that showed greater electrical resistivity than had been previously observed in the range 800 to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit; also, a technique was devised for increasing the resistance to ground by applying a fired-on ceramic coating to the grid of a specifically developed unbacked gage. A study was made of the cause of the erratic response of cemented gages that had not been preheated prior to use. There were strong indications that the erratic response was caused mostly by the rapid decrease in resistance that accompanied structural changes in the cement.

Book Synopsis Proceedings of the 3rd International Gas Processing Symposium by :
Download or read book Proceedings of the 3rd International Gas Processing Symposium written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-13 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Natural gas continues to be the fuel of choice for power generation and feedstock for a range of petrochemical industries. This trend is driven by environmental, economic and supply considerations with a balance clearly tilting in favor of natural gas as both fuel and feedstock. Despite the recent global economic uncertainty, the oil and gas industry is expected to continue its growth globally, especially in emerging economies. The expansion in LNG capacity beyond 2011 and 2012 coupled with recently launched and on-stream GTL plants poses real technological and environmental challenges. These important developments coupled with a global concern on green house gas emissions provide a fresh impetus to engage in new and more focused research activities aimed at mitigating or resolving the challenges facing the industry.Academic researchers and plant engineers in the gas processing industry will benefit from the state of the art papers published in this collection that cover natural gas utilization, sustainability and excellence in gas processing. - Provides state-of-the-art contributions in the area of gas processing - Covers solutions to technical and environmental problems - Input from academia and industry
