Book Synopsis Cold-recycled Bituminous Concrete Using Bituminous Materials by : Jon A. Epps
Download or read book Cold-recycled Bituminous Concrete Using Bituminous Materials written by Jon A. Epps and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 1990 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This synthesis will be of interest to pavement designers, construction engineers, and others interested in economical methods for reconstructing or rehabilitating bituminous pavements. Information is provided on the processes and procedures used by a number of states to recycle asphalt pavements in place without application of heat. Since 1975 a growing number of state highway agencies have reconstructed or rehabilitated asphalt pavements by recycling the old pavement in place. This report of the Transportation Research Board describes the processes used for cold in-place recycling, including construction procedures, mix designs, mixture properties, performance, and specifications.
Book Synopsis Sustainability Issues in Civil Engineering by : G.L. Sivakumar Babu
Download or read book Sustainability Issues in Civil Engineering written by G.L. Sivakumar Babu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-11-23 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This compilation on sustainability issues in civil engineering comprises contributions from international experts who have been working in the area of sustainability in civil engineering. Many of the contributions have been presented as keynote lectures at the International Conference on Sustainable Civil Infrastructure (ICSCI) held in Hyderabad, India. The book has been divided into core themes of Sustainable Transportation Systems, Sustainable Geosystems, Sustainable Environmental and Water Resources and Sustainable Structural Systems. Use of sustainability principles in engineering has become an important component of the process of design and in this context, design and analysis approaches in civil engineering are being reexamined to incorporate the principles of sustainable designs and construction in practice. Developing economies are on the threshold of rapid infrastructure growth and there is a need to compile the developments in various branches of civil engineering and highlight the issues. It is this need that prompted the composition of this book. The contents of this book will be useful to students, professionals, and researchers working on sustainability related problems in civil engineering. The book also provides a perspective on sustainability for practicing civil engineers who are not directly researching the problems but are affected by the concerns in the course of their profession. The book can also serve to highlight to policy makers and governing bodies the need to have a mandate for sustainable infrastructural development.

Book Synopsis Testing and Characterization of Sustainable Innovative Bituminous Materials and Systems by : Manfred N. Partl
Download or read book Testing and Characterization of Sustainable Innovative Bituminous Materials and Systems written by Manfred N. Partl and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-02-01 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the detailed results of five task groups of the RILEM technical committee TC 237-SIB on Testing and Characterization of Sustainable Innovative Bituminous Materials and Systems. It concentrates on specific new topics in asphalt binder and mixture testing, dealing with new developments in asphalt testing, in particular also in view of new innovative bituminous materials, such as hot and cold recycled mixtures, grid reinforced pavements and recycled Reclaimed Asphalt Pavements (RAP), where test methods developed for traditional asphalt concrete are not a priori applicable. The main objective is providing a basis for pre-standardization by comparing different test methods and showing ways for fundamental improvements. Thus, the book also points the way for a further advanced chemo-physical understanding of materials and their role in pavement systems relying on fundamental material properties and suitable models for describing and predicting the intrinsic mechanisms that determine the material behavior.
