Die möglichen Einflussfaktoren sind vielzählig und werden nicht nur von der Öffentlichkeit sondern auch von der Wissenschaft kontrovers diskutiert. Selbst eine anerkannte, allgemein gültige Begriffsdefinition ist dafür nicht verfügbar. Vor diesem Hintergrund hat der österreichische Gesetzgeber im Rahmen der Novellierung des Arbeitnehmer/Innenschutzgesetzes 2013 die Wichtigkeit von psychischen Belastungen stärker betont und die Arbeitgeber zur Evaluierung dieser Belastungen verpflichtet. Welche Maßnahmen aus den Evaluierungsergebnissen abgeleitet werden, liegt in der Verantwortung der Unternehmen. Dass die wirtschaftlichen Rahmenbedingungen Einfluss auf die Arbeitsbedingungen haben ist unbestritten. So nimmt die Veränderungsdynamik in Unternehmen bedingt durch den weltweiten Wettbewerb immer stärker zu. Die Gestaltung solcher Veränderungsprozesse kann das psychische Wohlbefinden der Mitarbeiter im Unternehmen nachhaltig beeinträchtigen. Hier sind neben der professionellen Gestaltung von Veränderungen auch Führung und eine förderliche Unternehmenskultur notwendig, um nachhaltigen Erfolg zu erreichen. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit sollen jene Einflussfaktoren herausgearbeitet werden, welche als Auslöser für das Burnout-Syndrom gelten und im Einflussbereich eines Unternehmens liegen. Dazu werden die Erkenntnisse aus dem aktuellen Stand der Forschung zur Burnout-Thematik im Zusammenhang mit der Arbeitswelt mit den Ergebnissen von Experteninterviews verknüpft, um daraus Handlungsempfehlungen für Arbeitgeber zu erarbeiten.
