Book Synopsis Mark IV Supersonic-hypsersonic Arbitrary-body Program Modifications and Computer Graphics by : S. Taylor
Download or read book Mark IV Supersonic-hypsersonic Arbitrary-body Program Modifications and Computer Graphics written by S. Taylor and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modifications were made to two areas of the Mark IV Supersonic Arbitrary-Body program. First, the previous streamline method was replaced with one capable of tracing continuous surface streamlines. The method includes a means of locating the origins of the streamlines. Changes were also made to the viscous methods in the Mark IV code. The integral boundary layer methods, which must be applied along inviscid streamlines, were modified to ensure their compatibility with the new streamline method. Several discrepancies were observed in the previous coding of the integral methods, and the problems were corrected. (Author).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report describes a digital computer program system that is capable of calculating the supersonic and hypersonic aerodynamic characteristics of complex arbitrary three-dimensional shapes. This program is identified as the Mark IV Supersonic-Hypersonic Arbitrary-Body Computer Program. This program is a complete reorganization and expansion of the old Mark III Hypersonic Arbitrary-Body Program. The Mark IV program has a number of new capabilities that extend its applicability down into the supersonic speed range.

Book Synopsis Hypersonic and High Temperature Gas Dynamics by : John David Anderson
Download or read book Hypersonic and High Temperature Gas Dynamics written by John David Anderson and published by AIAA. This book was released on 1989 with total page 710 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a self-contained text for those students and readers interested in learning hypersonic flow and high-temperature gas dynamics. It assumes no prior familiarity with either subject on the part of the reader. If you have never studied hypersonic and/or high-temperature gas dynamics before, and if you have never worked extensively in the area, then this book is for you. On the other hand, if you have worked and/or are working in these areas, and you want a cohesive presentation of the fundamentals, a development of important theory and techniques, a discussion of the salient results with emphasis on the physical aspects, and a presentation of modern thinking in these areas, then this book is also for you. In other words, this book is designed for two roles: 1) as an effective classroom text that can be used with ease by the instructor, and understood with ease by the student; and 2) as a viable, professional working tool for engineers, scientists, and managers who have any contact in their jobs with hypersonic and/or high-temperature flow.

Download or read book Mark IV Supersonic-hypsersonic Arbitrary-body Program Modifications and Computer Graphics written by S. Taylor and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An interactive computer graphics program, TEKPIC, was developed for validating geometries prepared for the Mark IV Supersonic-Hypersonic Arbitrary-Body program. The TEKPIC program is also capable of displaying surface streamlines generated by the modified Mark IV program. A separate computer graphics program, HIDDEN, was constructed from existing computer codes, unlike TEKPIC, is capable of removing hidden lines. Program HIDDEN is operated in a batch mode to produce Calcomp plots. (Author).

Book Synopsis Missile Aerodynamics by : Jack Norman Nielsen
Download or read book Missile Aerodynamics written by Jack Norman Nielsen and published by AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics). This book was released on 1988-01-01 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The similarities between the airplane and the missile extend beyond their flying capabilities, and at higher operational speeds, the configuration distinctions become even less apparent. " Missile Aerodynamics," a classic now available from AIAA and Nielsen Engineering and Research, Inc., combines the best of missile and airplane aerodynamics, drawing extensively from numerous technical papers to present a rational and unified account of the principles behind missile projection. Evaluate the missile versus the airplane in a multitude of areas, from longitudinal acceleration, wing loading, roll and dynamic stability, guidance and navigation, and more. J.N. Nielsen covers every aspect of missile aerodynamics, from the classification of missiles and basic formulas to innovative aerodynamic controls. In one reliable reference, readers will find hundreds of schematics, equations, and tables with practical applications in missile design and engineering. Book Synopsis Engineering the Space Age - a Rocket Scientist Remembers by : Robert Brulle
Download or read book Engineering the Space Age - a Rocket Scientist Remembers written by Robert Brulle and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rarely is a reader exposed to such an extraordinary, multifaceted presentation of aerospace technology as Bob Brulle narrates in this book. After returning from duty as a combat fighter pilot in World War II, this Belgian immigrant developed a multitalented and innovative aerospace career path that addressed many of the aerospace professions. Along the way he forged a career in the aviation and space field that resulted in his participating in several of the most momentous aerospace achievements of the past century. He also expanded his education through hard work to a level at which he was qualified to teach graduate-level aerospace engineering courses. It is interesting to follow how the analysis and design techniques of aerospace vehicles progressed over the years, which incidentally reveals the large role that the computer played in making that possible. The story on the early Cape Canaveral operations was amusing and showed that enterprising innovations played a large role in a successful undertaking. Some of the projects described were a surprise, as I had never heard of them, like reading how a pencil-shaped missile was built that could fly and maneuver over an intercontinental distance at a high hypersonic velocity. He also described how American engineers and scientists fought the Cold War battle for technological supremacy on their desks and in their laboratories. The initiatives by which this enterprising engineer develops his technical approach to a project are very informative and offer the reader an insight into the workings of successful operations. He achieves an interesting behind-the-scenes look at how aerospace history is made by weaving in the historical significance of these projects as they are developed. As a former aeronautical engineer at the rapidly growing Mc- Donnell Aircraft Corporation, Bob gives us an interesting exposure to the importance of top management's relationship with the workforce in a successful company. "Mr. Mac" made it a point to make all his employees team members by frequent communication and friendly association.
