Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains nine refereed research papers in various areas from combinatorics to dynamical systems, with computer algebra as an underlying and unifying theme. Topics covered include irregular connections, rank reduction and summability of solutions of differential systems, asymptotic behaviour of divergent series, integrability of Hamiltonian systems, multiple zeta values, quasi-polynomial formalism, Padé approximants related to analytic integrability, hybrid systems. The interactions between computer algebra, dynamical systems and combinatorics discussed in this volume should be useful for both mathematicians and theoretical physicists who are interested in effective computation.

Download or read book Maple Animation written by John F. Putz and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-05-14 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is nothing quite like that feeling you get when you see that look of recognition and enjoyment on your students' faces. Not just the strong ones, but everyone is nodding in agreement during your first explanation of the geometry of directional derivatives. If you have incorporated animated demonstrations into your teaching, you know how effective they can be in eliciting this kind of response. You know the value of giving students vivid moving images to tie to concepts. But learning to make animations generally requires extensive searching through a vast computer algebra system for the pertinent functions. Maple Animation brings together virtually all of the functions and procedures useful in creating sophisticated animations using Maple 7, 8, or 9 and it presents them in a logical, accessible way. The accompanying CD-ROM provides all of the Maple code used in the book, including the code for more than 30 ready-to-use demonstrations. From Newton's method to linear transformations, the complete animations included in this book allow you to use them straight out of the box. Careful explanations of the methods teach you how to implement your own creative ideas. Whether you are a novice or an experienced Maple user, Maple Animation provides the tools and skills to enhance your teaching and your students' enjoyment of the subject through animation.

Book Synopsis First Leaves: A Tutorial Introduction to Maple V by : Bruce W. Char
Download or read book First Leaves: A Tutorial Introduction to Maple V written by Bruce W. Char and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This tutorial shows how to use Maple both as a calculator with instant access to hundreds of high-level math routines and as a programming language for more demanding tasks. It covers topics such as the basic data types and statements in the Maple language. It explains the differences between numeric computation and symbolic computation and illustrates how both are used in Maple. Extensive "how-to" examples are used throughout the tutorial to show how common types of calculations can be expressed easily in Maple. The manual also uses many graphics examples to illustrate the way in which 2D and 3D graphics can aid in understanding the behavior of functions.

Book Synopsis Asymptotic Differential Algebra and Model Theory of Transseries by : Matthias Aschenbrenner
Download or read book Asymptotic Differential Algebra and Model Theory of Transseries written by Matthias Aschenbrenner and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2017-06-06 with total page 873 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asymptotic differential algebra seeks to understand the solutions of differential equations and their asymptotics from an algebraic point of view. The differential field of transseries plays a central role in the subject. Besides powers of the variable, these series may contain exponential and logarithmic terms. Over the last thirty years, transseries emerged variously as super-exact asymptotic expansions of return maps of analytic vector fields, in connection with Tarski's problem on the field of reals with exponentiation, and in mathematical physics. Their formal nature also makes them suitable for machine computations in computer algebra systems. This self-contained book validates the intuition that the differential field of transseries is a universal domain for asymptotic differential algebra. It does so by establishing in the realm of transseries a complete elimination theory for systems of algebraic differential equations with asymptotic side conditions. Beginning with background chapters on valuations and differential algebra, the book goes on to develop the basic theory of valued differential fields, including a notion of differential-henselianity. Next, H-fields are singled out among ordered valued differential fields to provide an algebraic setting for the common properties of Hardy fields and the differential field of transseries. The study of their extensions culminates in an analogue of the algebraic closure of a field: the Newton-Liouville closure of an H-field. This paves the way to a quantifier elimination with interesting consequences.
