Book Synopsis Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling by : Necmi K. Avkiran
Download or read book Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling written by Necmi K. Avkiran and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-02-16 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book pulls together robust practices in Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) from other disciplines and shows how they can be used in the area of Banking and Finance. In terms of empirical analysis techniques, Banking and Finance is a conservative discipline. As such, this book will raise awareness of the potential of PLS-SEM for application in various contexts. PLS-SEM is a non-parametric approach designed to maximize explained variance in latent constructs. Latent constructs are directly unobservable phenomena such as customer service quality and managerial competence. Explained variance refers to the extent we can predict, say, customer service quality, by examining other theoretically related latent constructs such as conduct of staff and communication skills. Examples of latent constructs at the microeconomic level include customer service quality, managerial effectiveness, perception of market leadership, etc.; macroeconomic-level latent constructs would be found in contagion of systemic risk from one financial sector to another, herd behavior among fund managers, risk tolerance in financial markets, etc. Behavioral Finance is bound to provide a wealth of opportunities for applying PLS-SEM. The book is designed to expose robust processes in application of PLS-SEM, including use of various software packages and codes, including R. PLS-SEM is already a popular tool in marketing and management information systems used to explain latent constructs. Until now, PLS-SEM has not enjoyed a wide acceptance in Banking and Finance. Based on recent research developments, this book represents the first collection of PLS-SEM applications in Banking and Finance. This book will serve as a reference book for those researchers keen on adopting PLS-SEM to explain latent constructs in Banking and Finance.

Book Synopsis Habla EspañOl ¡ya! by : Bertha Estela Loya
Download or read book Habla EspañOl ¡ya! written by Bertha Estela Loya and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-07 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hi, my name is Bertha Estela and my passion is teaching. I hold a BA from the BUAP in the teaching of English, and a Masters in the teaching of Spanish as a 2nd.language, from the University of the Americas, Puebla. I have been teaching English at all levels, from Basic, all the way to the preparation for the TOEFL for over forty years, at different places, such as: The American School in Puebla, the University of the Americas; and the BUAP, and, of course at - English/Español Training Center, Consequently, I ended up opening a bilingual school to teach both languages. On doing this, I realized that none of the books that were in the market at that time - drilled the Know How of the structures that do not transfer from one language to the other Therefore , I wrote my own five-level Series Español Fácil, Editorial Trillas, which has been a real hit and another series of five books "Let's Walk the Walk" which were only for internal use at E.T.C, my school. But now, being retired, and terribly excited with the option of buying books online, I have written two workbooks that cover the above mentioned structures in depth. I am positive that they will prove to be an excellent source to clarify structures and drills to help students understand and master the pitfalls that any foreign student learning my wonderful language - Spanish, will have to surpass. Trust my word and, if you have any doubt, contact me at [email protected] without any cost. I will be delighted to help you out.
Book Synopsis Evaluation and Translation by : Carol Maier
Download or read book Evaluation and Translation written by Carol Maier and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-04-23 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The definition of value or quality with respect to work in translation has historically been a particularly vexed issue. Today, however, the growing demand for translations in such fields as technology and business and the increased scrutiny of translators' work by scholars in many disciplines is giving rise to a need for more nuanced, more specialized, and more explicit methods of determining value. Some refer to this determination as evaluation, others use the term assessment. Either way, the question is one of measurement and judgement, which are always unavoidably subjective and frequently rest on criteria that are not overtly expressed. This means that devising more complex evaluative practices involves not only quantitative techniques but also an exploration of the attitudes, preferences, or individual values on which criteria are established. Intended as an interrogation and a critique that can serve to prompt a more thorough and open consideration of evaluative criteria, this special issue of The Translator offers examinations of diverse evaluative practices and contains both empirical and hermeneutic work. Topics addressed include the evaluation of student translations using more up-to-date and positive methods such as those employed in corpus studies; the translation of non?standard language; translation into the second language; terminology; the application of theoretical criteria to practice; a social?textual perspective; and the reviewing of literary translations in the press. In addition, reviews by a number of literary translators discuss specific translations both into and out of English.

This book was released on 2015-10-15 with total page 964 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the publication of the still very valuable Biblioteca histórica de la filología by Cipriano Muñoz y Manzano, conde de la Viñaza (Madrid, 1893), our knowledge of the history of the study of the Spanish language has grown considerably, and most manuscript and secondary sources had never been tapped before Hans-Josef Niederehe of the University of Trier courageously undertook the task to bring together any available bibliographical information together with much more recent research findings, scattered in libraries, journals and other places. The resulting Bibliografía cronológica de la lingüística, la gramática y la lexicografía del español: Desde los principios hasta el año 1600 (BICRES) began appearing in 1994. BICRES I covered the period from the early beginnings to 1600), followed by BICRES II (1601–1700), BICRES III (1701–1800), and together with Miguel Ángel Esparza Torres of Madrid there followed BICRES IV (1801 to 1860). Now, the fifth volume, has become available, covering the years from 1861 to 1899. Access to the bibliographical information of altogether 5,272 titles is facilitated by several detailed indexes, such as a short title index, a listing of printers, publishers and places of production, and an author index. More than twenty years of research in the major libraries of Spain and other European countries have gone into this unique work — relative sources of the Americas have also been covered — making it exhaustive source for any serious scholar of any possible aspect of the Spanish language.

Book Synopsis Simplified Signs: A Manual Sign-Communication System for Special Populations, Volume 1. by : John D. Bonvillian
Download or read book Simplified Signs: A Manual Sign-Communication System for Special Populations, Volume 1. written by John D. Bonvillian and published by Open Book Publishers. This book was released on 2020-07-30 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simplified Signs presents a system of manual sign communication intended for special populations who have had limited success mastering spoken or full sign languages. It is the culmination of over twenty years of research and development by the authors. The Simplified Sign System has been developed and tested for ease of sign comprehension, memorization, and formation by limiting the complexity of the motor skills required to form each sign, and by ensuring that each sign visually resembles the meaning it conveys. Volume 1 outlines the research underpinning and informing the project, and places the Simplified Sign System in a wider context of sign usage, historically and by different populations. Volume 2 presents the lexicon of signs, totalling approximately 1000 signs, each with a clear illustration and a written description of how the sign is formed, as well as a memory aid that connects the sign visually to the meaning that it conveys. While the Simplified Sign System originally was developed to meet the needs of persons with intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, autism, or aphasia, it may also assist the communication needs of a wider audience – such as healthcare professionals, aid workers, military personnel , travellers or parents, and children who have not yet mastered spoken language. The system also has been shown to enhance learning for individuals studying a foreign language. Lucid and comprehensive, this work constitutes a valuable resource that will enhance the communicative interactions of many different people, and will be of great interest to researchers and educators alike.
