Book excerpt: This work is developed from studies about the principles of the Christian Lutheran education and the administration of confessional schools in the context of the pedagogic ideas in the south of Brazil (1824-1997). This subject is of general interest, as it can be verified by the selection of articles published in the magazines of the Lutheran Churches in Brazil. This administration encompasses the director, the professor, and the parents, so that they may work together in search for a clear view of the mission, that is, the meaning of the existence of a confessional school. The aims of this research is to clarify questions in the History of Education, as well as in the administration of private and confessional schools. The following problem is raised: What are the Christian principles and the pedagogic tendencies and approaches which orient the administration of Lutheran confessional schools in south Brazil (1824-1997)? A survey of the publications of IELB (Igreja Evangélica Luterana do Brasil) and of IECLB (Igreja Evangélica de Confissão Luterana do Brasil), from 1824 to 1997. The year of 1824 was chosen because that year is considered, because of the German immigration, as the beginning of the arrival of the Lutheran ideas in Brazil. Max Weber?s comprehensive method is used because is adequate for the analysis. One may affirm that the social action management in a Lutheran confessional school continues to be the quest to make the Christian principles concrete.

Book excerpt: This is a devotional which is part Scripture study, part emotional dive, part intellectual interrogation, and part personal stirrings. It takes you on a school year journey that meets you where you are professionally. It equally challenges you through the Church Year, the way in which our spiritual life also has its exaltations and despairs. In this parallel journey, we hope that you will be inspired and challenged to continue to extend God's Kingdom through His children. Greg, Simon, and Stephen are leaders with Christian School Management, present and former Heads of School, leaders with over 100 years of experience between them, and committed to extending the Kingdom. Our intention is to bring hope and inspire you. Christian School Management was founded in 2017 to reverse the decline in Christian education. Its mission is For Jesus; Through Mission; With Students. It is a 501(c)3 operated by committed Christian school leaders providing advice and counsel through Empower, CSM's weekly newsletter, through consulting, workshops, surveys, Trustee online training, and other resources. It works across denominational boundaries to build God's kingdom "on earth as it is heaven". Christian School Management Association www. christianschoolmanagement.org [email protected]

Book excerpt: Ministry Mess Management is directed principally at Christian ministry leaders and presumes that Christian ministry leaders subscribe to biblically based principles and Christ-centered management. It is our humble attempt to examine ministry failures and malperformance rooted in breeches of one or more of those biblical principles. We will demonstrate the close link between biblical principles and wise management, indeed a linkage based in Gods reality. They go hand in hand. Necessary management decisions, including gritty and distasteful ones such as terminations, should be as much grounded in biblical principles as good management principles, not simply pragmatism or financial need. Furthermore, we invite you to think, and to frame, organizational behavior (and failure) within these values and wisdom. We wish to encourage, even urge, Christ-centered boards and managers to discerningly understand, detect and courageously be able to expeditiously act, yet with grace, out of a sense of biblical necessity in an organizational context when danger signs based both in biblical and sound management principles are flashing warnings. Governing and executive leadership are sobering responsibilities with, we believe, transcendent effects.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reason is what makes human beings different from animals. The latter is programmed and guided to behave and act on activities through instinct, but the former operates their lives and actions through their intellect and power of reason. Both reason and instinct were given by God to humans and animals. Humans were endowed with intellect that is inherently characterised with reason and logical thinking. In the Garden of Eden God created the man and the woman not as ignoramus but as thinking, logical, and intellectual beings. They were created to be capable of receiving education since they have the ability to think. As a result, God made the first Christian school with religious instruction designed to educate Christian students. The first two students were Adam and Eve, the first teacher was God, and their first subject was about fruits and food technology. The students were taught that they may be able to eat freely the fruits of all the trees except for one - the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. So far so good. But it did not take long enjoying this perfect environment in the Christian school. Another spurious teacher came along, Satan in the form of a serpent, came in and confronted the students about the subject that God had taught them. He was not particular of the entire pedagogy of God but what he was concerned most was, did God teach the students to stop them from eating particularly the fruit, the knowledge of good and evil with its deadly consequences? Immediately one of the students responded affirmatively. Quickly Satan rationalized and massaged God's teaching by re-teaching the students that the prohibited fruit was actually pleasant and excellent. The consequence of death was pure concoction and unrealistic, but rather it was very beneficial because they would become intellectuals as God is. Believing on that premise, they students thought God's teaching was bad for them, and hence, both of the students listened to the new education introduced by the spurious teacher, Satan, and they did eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Consequently, God, their bona fide teacher kicked them out from His Christian school for violation of His clear teaching with the sentence of death penalty hanging on their heads. Thus, the first students and human beings became sinners. However, the quest for education did not cease there in the Garden of Eden. For this reason, the violators - Adam and Eve tried to invent their own education believing that they could be educated by themselves, and hence, the origin of progressive education curriculum. Since they cannot be re-admitted in God's Christian school because they were forever barred due to their sin, Adam and Eve invented their own school called public education with the progressive education curriculum in it. Yet, God had forgiven the students, and tried to continue the education that God had started but it was no longer pure godly education but fraught with progressive education curriculum. It must be pointed out that the best education that a human being can possess is the education that God has made which is Christian education. Public education was not made by God. Pleasant as it is, as some educators esteemed it highly, public education was produced as a result of rebellion when the first humans - Adam and Eve rejected God's teaching, and instead listened and obeyed Satan's education which is now called public education. However, this book postulates the principle of Christian education and leadership as the best option for a quality education. It may sound religious and godly, but it was so in its origin. True education cannot be realized in the absence of Christ. An education apart from Christ is no education at all.
