Book Synopsis Advanced Control Foundation by : Terrence Blevins
Download or read book Advanced Control Foundation written by Terrence Blevins and published by International Society of Automation. This book was released on 2012-09-01 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the authors address the concepts and terminology that are needed to apply advanced control techniques in the process industry. The book is written for the process or control engineer that is familiar with traditional control but has little or no experience in designing, installing, commissioning and maintaining advanced control applications. Each chapter of the book is structured to allow a person to quickly understand the technology and how it is applied. Application examples are used to show what is required to address an application. Also, a section of each chapter is dedicated to a more in-depth discussion of the technology for the reader that is interested in understanding the mathematical basis for the technology. A workshop is provided at the end of each chapter that explores the technology. The reader may view the workshop solution by going to the web site that accompanies the book. The book provides comprehensive coverage of the major advanced control techniques that are most commonly used in the process industry. This includes tools for monitoring control system performance, on-demand and adaptive tuning techniques, model predictive control, LP optimization, data analytics for batch and continuous processes, fuzzy logic control, neural networks and advancements in PID to use with wireless measurements. Since many readers may work with an existing DCS that does not support advanced control, a chapter of the book is dedicated to tools and techniques that the authors have found useful in integrating advanced control tools into an existing control system. Also, one chapter of the book addresses how dynamic process simulations may be easily created in a DCS to support checkout and operator training on the use of advanced control.

Book Synopsis Operation and Maintenance of Large Infrastructure Projects by : J.S. Jensen
Download or read book Operation and Maintenance of Large Infrastructure Projects written by J.S. Jensen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-12-19 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Major Infrastructure links across water represent large investments. The structures and systems must be optimised to keep costs in control. Optimisation needs and the tendancy to more slender and light structures imply that engineering disciplines like Bridge Aerodynamics and Ship Collision Analysis have an increasing impact on the overall design of links. Also the attention to life cycle costs implies Operation and Maintenance must to investigated and planned in parallel to the design and construction of the links. The 1998 International Symposium aims at presenting state-of-the-art and future development within the three mentioned engineering disciplines. Exploring the many facets of major infrastructure projects, this symposium concentrated on developments within organisational, strategic and policy areas and both traffic and o & m management. Contributors to the papers include operators, consultants and international, experienced owners.

Book Synopsis Foundations of Knowledge Base Management by : Joachim W. Schmidt
Download or read book Foundations of Knowledge Base Management written by Joachim W. Schmidt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past, applied artificial intelligence systems were built with particular emphasis on general reasoning methods intended to function efficiently, even when only relatively little domain-specific knowledge was available. In other words, AI technology aimed at the processing of knowledge stored under comparatively general representation schemes. Nowadays, the focus has been redirected to the role played by specific and detailed knowledge, rather than to the reasoning methods themselves. Many new application systems are centered around knowledge bases, i. e. , they are based on large collections offacts, rules, and heuristics that cap ture knowledge about a specific domain of applications. Experience has shown that when used in combination with rich knowledge bases, even simple reasoning methods can be extremely effective in a wide variety of problem domains. Knowledge base construction and management will thus become the key factor in the development of viable knowledge-based ap plications. Knowledge Base Management Systems (KBMSs) are being proposed that provide user-friendly environments for the construction, retrieval, and manipUlation of large shared knowledge bases. In addition to deductive reasoning, KBMSs require operational characteristics such as concurrent access, integrity maintenance, error recovery, security, and perhaps distribution. For the development ofKBMSs, the need to integrate concepts and technologies from different areas, such as Artificial Intel ligence, Databases, and Logic, has been widely recognized. One of the central issues for KBMSs is the framework used for knowledge representation-semantic networks, frames, rules, and logics are proposed by the AI and logic communities.

Book Synopsis Advanced Applications of Python Data Structures and Algorithms by : Galety, Mohammad Gouse
Download or read book Advanced Applications of Python Data Structures and Algorithms written by Galety, Mohammad Gouse and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2023-07-05 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data structures are essential principles applicable to any programming language in computer science. Data structures may be studied more easily with Python than with any other programming language because of their interpretability, interactivity, and object-oriented nature. Computers may store and process data at an extraordinary rate and with outstanding accuracy. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that the data is efficiently stored and is able to be accessed promptly. In addition, data processing should take as little time as feasible while maintaining the highest possible level of precision. Advanced Applications of Python Data Structures and Algorithms assists in understanding and applying the fundamentals of data structures and their many implementations and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of various data structures. Covering key topics such as Python, linked lists, datatypes, and operators, this reference work is ideal for industry professionals, computer scientists, researchers, academicians, scholars, practitioners, instructors, and students.
