Download or read book Sincerely Louise written by Gloria Boyd and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-11 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I used to sit on my mother's lap while she showed me the faded pictures in her old photo album. "That's me when I had beautiful long blond hair," she's say, or ""Look at that Homer! He was a bad one." Then, a far-away look would cross her face, and she would smile. "My Lord. See that dress? I thought I looked so spiffy, back then." Tears would shine in her eyes when she turned to pictures of my aunt Ruth, who died many years ago. Then Mother would close the album and say, "Another time, honey. I must see to dinner before your father comes home." Through pictures and eventually by writing SINCERELY, LOUISE, I have come to know my mother in a new and wonderful way. Parts of her story are from her own words, parts from the early pictures, the rest, from my imagination. You may call the book a memoir, a fictional biography, or a tall tale. I simply call it, Sincerely, Louise.

Once when I tripped and fell, Princess rolled right over me. Then Blackie lumbered beside us and rolled on Princess. Reeder jumped right in and the four of us-bears and Reeder and I-rolled and ran, rolled and ran. Reeder and I hollered and laughed and the bear cubs barked and growled playfully. Luvella thought making a promise and being dedicated to fulfilling it were enough. Is it really possible for an 11-year-old to open her own store? Her love for her family and for the mountain where she has grown up answer yes, anything is possible. But with a theme of loss weaving through her life, Luvella discovers that the very people she loves innocently create the major setbacks to her success.
Download or read book Mama's Voice written by Esther Bganya and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-03-31 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mamas Voice is the product of a middle-aged Christian psychiatrist and mother who journals her life observations and experiences, hoping to pass on some life lessons to her children. What started off as random journaling of thoughts ended up being a published book released as a birthday present for her children. The book is written in a random manner with life lessons ranging from self-esteem, bad habits, addictions, snobbery, conflict, money, selfishness, greed, and codependent relationships through to family dramas. The author attempts to capture some important life lessons with a touch of humor and rawness that depicts the real-life dramas. Both pleasurable and painful life observations and experiences are unapologetically expressed with a rawness that does not coat it with sweet candy. Its about real life seen through the eyes of a mother going through a midlife crisis and questioning most things she had taken for granted. The messages are given as direct instructions to her children in second or third person voices and riddles. The messages are just as random as they entered the authors thoughts. This is a light read for both the middle aged and young, who are questioning a few things in their worldview. Like the philosopher in the book of Ecclesiastes, the author grapples with certain life issues until she finally realizes that she cannot fix the world and she gives up control. The forty-five-year-old author starts off by writing a letter to her thirteen-year-old self and ends the book with her modified version of the Ten Commandments and a futuristic letter to her eighty-five-year-old self.

The mold takes all. Twelve-year-old fairy Canary Mossheart knows this better than most. A few years ago, the mold took her papa, and even her famous, former-chosen-one Gran never found a cure. So when Ary's beloved mama falls ill, Ary decides it’s taken enough. Armed with only a bucket and a prayer, she sneaks out to find a magical, underground lake whose healing waters are straight out of Gran’s adventures. But when Ary gets there, the lake’s bone dry, and instead of healing waters, she finds a terrifying secret: Her entire world is actually trapped inside a giant terrarium—one they were meant to leave centuries ago. Worse, Gran knew and hid the truth, dooming Ary and her generation to a dying, rotting world. Now, allied with only her doomsday-obsessed frenemy, a timid pill bug, and a particularly grumpy newt, Ary has one week to unravel the clues and find a way out of the terrarium—or they’ll be trapped for good. Book Synopsis The Kind Mama by : Alicia Silverstone
Download or read book The Kind Mama written by Alicia Silverstone and published by Rodale. This book was released on 2014-04-15 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The bestselling author of The Kind Diet offers practical solutions for a healthier, more vibrant approach to new motherhood When did making babies get to be so hard? Infertility is on the rise globally, affecting as many as one in six couples. But instead of looking at diet and lifestyle as key factors, doctors are racing to pump their patients full of expensive and invasive fertility treatments. Once pregnant, women just accept that carrying a baby will be the gassy, swollen, irritable, sleepless nightmare that has become the new normal. Once their babies are born, they assume it will be just as challenging—from breastfeeding woes to screaming fits and constant trips to the doctor. It doesn’t have to be that way. In The Kind Mama, Alicia Silverstone shows that if we kick nasty foods that fight our bodies and replace them with nutrient-rocking “clean” foods that heal and nourish, we can create a more positive baby-making experience, from conception through the third trimester (and beyond). By encouraging basic diet and lifestyle modifications and drawing on wisdom from medical experts, friends, and her own experience, Silverstone has created a one-stop guide that empowers women to take charge of their fertility and pregnancy, and helps them to embark on a healthier, more vibrant path to parenthood.

It was a bond that grew through the years, and one that made Peter’s eventual decision to enlist in the Army all the more difficult for Carey. With Peter having stepped up to help her raise her young son, Carey was closer than ever to her brother, and the thought of him serving far from home was painful. While stationed in Iraq, Peter befriended a stray dog and her four puppies, only to watch three of the young pups die in the warzone. With only two surviving dogs—Mama and Boris—Peter became determined to save the strays. Carey helped her brother with his mission, but everything changed on Christmas Day in 2007 when word arrived at the Neesley household that Peter had been killed. Amidst the grief of coming to terms with her brother’s death and the turmoil of trying to plan his funeral, Carey devoted herself to bringing Peter’s dogs home to the U.S. It was the final honor she could pay to her brother and a way of keeping a piece of him with her. With the help of an unlikely network of heroes, including an animal rescue organization in Utah, a civilian airline, an Iraqi family, and a private security contractor with military connections, Mama and Boris mad the journey form the streets of Baghdad to Carey’s suburban house. Carey’s mission garnered widespread attention and requests from other soldiers for help in bringing home dogs they had become attached to on deployment, and she continues to work with organizations dedicated to bringing home wartime strays.
