Book excerpt: “As I lay in the sarcophagus, thoughts race, ‘I am laying where great kings have lain in this very sarcophagus in the king’s chamber.’” This title combines reality, fantasy, history, mythology, humanity, and spirituality into one exciting package. The content regarding Jesus’ time in Egypt will be of interest to Christian scholars, but is not so heavy-handed to turn off those less spiritually inclined. All that is required to enjoy this title is a spirit of adventure and an open mind. -The US Review of Books Before the Ancient Egyptian’s knowledge of the Biblical Genesis, the god Thoth was considered their god of wisdom. 2000 years ago, the Holy family fl ed King Herod’s wrath, and young Jesus spent His formative years on Egypt soil. Book Synopsis Sojourner to Stoner: the Photographs by : Gordon Schwerzmann
Download or read book Sojourner to Stoner: the Photographs written by Gordon Schwerzmann and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2022-11-22 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Sojourner to Stoner: The Photographs “is my impression of Southeast Asia in the 1970s. I spent over a year as an officer in the U.S. Army in South Korea and close to two years traveling throughout Asia, first as a backpacker and later as a Hippie (yippee-ki-yay). “The Photographs” are a companion piece to my written book, called with great imagination: “Sojourner to Stoner: The Journal” I have documented a time, the 1970s, before the all-pervading Western culture (sex, drugs, and rock and roll) and The Economic Miracle changed Asia irrevocably. The book portrays the lives of ordinary people and their unique cultures, religions and traditional ways of life. The Asia of Conrad and Maughan is gone, and the war-torn Asia of Vietnam will also pass. This is my time-capsule vision of Asia, a bright shining light from a galaxy far far away that has already disappeared.

It may also alert us to possible threats. What happened to Diana and Dodi in the Alma Tunnel? What happened to JFK and his son? What was behind the disappearance of Harold Holt Australian Prime Minister at Cheviot Beach in 1965? Barack Obama - is he safe from racist threat by the Ku Klux Klan and other extremists? What can we all do to protect him? Waris Dirie, why does her name appear in The Bible Code? Will they discover "the God particle" in the Hadron Collider, built deep in a tunnel under the Swiss Alps, when they smash proton into proton to re-enact the Einsteinien Big Bang theory of how life began? Are we living in a 12 dimensional world, not 4 = (3 space + 1 time) that will prove the string theory true? Is time like a multi-lane highway, moving in an infinite circle? All these questions and more may be answered in a book 3,000 years old, The Bible.

Book Synopsis The Beginning Is Near by : Em Merson PhD
Download or read book The Beginning Is Near written by Em Merson PhD and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2021-10-13 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is quasi-autobiographical, leaning on links to music from the sixties, seventies, eighties, and nineties. Woven throughout are references to self-isolation in lockdown, a journey through the dark night of the soul toward enlightenment, and a growing awareness that those of us who open our hearts to peace and love are being called on to offer it now. I share a journal about love and loss—sudden separation from a long-term relationship—and the aftermath, leading to a new beginning. I provide ideas to support transformation from books, websites, music, some wild metaphysical blogs, and YouTube videos if publicly available—check for links in the ebook by tapping or clicking on the titles that are bold and italicized. The pivotal piece in this book is that I’ve used the music and techniques to transform my life and access wisdom, joy, and bliss. This inner change has led to outer change, impacting my understanding of reality and the nature of the COVID-19 phenomenon. There are some twists in this story I could never have predicted. Truth is stranger than fiction.

Download or read book Solomon written by Steven Weitzman and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2011-03-29 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tradition has it that King Solomon knew everything there was to know--the mysteries of nature, of love, of God himself--but what do we know of him? Esteemed biblical scholar Steven Weitzman reintroduces readers to Solomon's story and its surprising influence in shaping Western culture, and he also examines what Solomon's life, wisdom, and writings have come to mean for Jews, Christians, and Muslims over the past two thousand years. Weitzman's "Solomon" is populated by a colorful cast of ambitious characters--Byzantine emperors, explorers, rabbis, saints, scientists, poets, archaeologists, trial judges, reggae singers, and moviemakers among them--whose common goal is to unearth the truth about Solomon's life and wisdom. Filled with the Solomonic texts of the Bible, along with lesser-known magical texts and other writings, this book challenges both religious and secular assumptions. Even as it seeks to tell the story of ancient Israel's greatest ruler, this insightful book is also a meditation on the Solomonic desire to know all of life's secrets, and on the role of this desire in world history.

Book Synopsis Memories of Eden by : Violette Shamash
Download or read book Memories of Eden written by Violette Shamash and published by Northwestern University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-15 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to legend, the Garden of Eden was located in Iraq, and for millennia, Jews resided peacefully in metropolitan Baghdad. Memories of Eden: A Journey Through Jewish Baghdad reconstructs the last years of the oldest Jewish Diaspora community in the world through the recollections of Violette Shamash, a Jewish woman who was born in Baghdad in 1912, sent to her daughter Mira Rocca and son-in-law, the British journalist Tony Rocca. The result is a deeply textured memoir—an intimate portrait of an individual life, yet revealing of the complex dynamics of the Middle East in the twentieth century. Toward the end of her long life, Violette Shamash began writing letters, notes, and essays and sending them to the Roccas. The resulting book begins near the end of Ottoman rule and runs through the British Mandate, the emergence of an independent Iraq, and the start of dictatorial government. Shamash clearly loved the world in which she grew up but is altogether honest in her depiction of the transformation of attitudes toward Baghdad’s Jewish population. Shamash’s world is finally shattered by the Farhud, the name given to the massacre of hundreds of Iraqi Jews over three days in 1941. An event that has received very slight historical coverage, the Farhud is further described and placed in context in a concluding essay by Tony Rocca.
