Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everson Montgomery’s entire life is devoted to ensuring the success of his pro football career. Strict rules about his diet, sleep habits, and training schedule keep him running like a well-oiled linebacker machine. There’s zero room for distractions… until he meets his teammate’s brother and is instantly smitten with the friendly, gorgeous, generous man. Ryan Brennan has had a crush on the gridiron giant for years. When the opportunity to work together on a charity drive arises, he’s all in. Spending time with Everson, he sees the sweetness and vulnerability beneath the stoic exterior, and opens up his heart and his home. He’s learned the hard way that getting too close, too fast isn’t smart, but something keeps drawing him to Everson. Everson doesn’t do relationships and Ryan doesn’t do hook ups, but they can’t stay away from each other. When chaos on the field and in the locker room spills over into everyday life, and past ghosts return to haunt them both, will they chase after their hearts or will their relationship be tackled before they have a chance to score? Mad Scramble was originally featured in Love is All: An Anthology, and has since been expanded.

Book excerpt: Tales From the Pushin Off brings to life the era of the 1940's and early 1950's--of what rural life was like for families and children of that time. The stories portray the lives of a close-knit, extended family and their children, during the times of the Depression Era, WWII, food rationing, and life in a small town atop a mountain, located in the Cumberland Mountains in Southern Middle Tennessee. Most of the stories describe the deeds, misdeeds, and escapades of the author and two of his first cousins, both of whom grew up with him.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is a revealing anti-Vietnam War narrative about the day to day interactions of a group of young combatants coping with the realities of war during redeployment. The lives of these mostly draftees are candidly detailed as the story negotiates the one year tour faced by all who served there. It gives an insight into the Spartan life of the foot soldier and the predicament of the many reluctant warriors who, by 1970, were faced with fighting a war that seemingly no longer needed to be fought. The story deals with a lot of the intimate issues that were both common to all of the troops and relevant to many of the families at home. It is an informative study for the uninitiated and a remembrance for all who were affected that would easily qualify as more than just a journal dealing only with the conflict. There is also a parallel story portraying the tragedy of a mother struggling with the loss of her son to the war. Her ensuing long term grieving process and the effect she had on the survivors of the battle is a centerpiece of the book. The abundance of drugs and the immaturity of the troops facing the disparity of fighting for an unpopular foreign policy created an unusual war effort. With no victory to achieve, there were only lives to be lost as the war dragged on. In the face of the odds stacked against them, they reinvented their purpose for being there and fought for each other creating a bond that testifies to the human spirit and its ability to adapt.

The territory south of Backstrap has become the territory of the vicious Elkhiyda gang, who ruthlessly protect the area. As Justin picks up more straggling survivors, they make plans to move to Backstrap with fresh supplies, but he knows they're going to have to fight their way past the Elkhiyda to get to freedom. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Black the Night and Wild the Sea is a story of adventure and intrigue set in the turbulent era of the Australian gold rushes. It is also a love story between two very different characters: Michael Byrnes, a warm hearted but roguish Irish adventurer, and Sele Kanawa, a beautiful and passionate Eurasian missionary. The story ranges from the wild southern coast of Australia to the jungles of the Cape York Peninsula and the wild unexplored islands of Melanesia, where brutal sea captains abducted natives to work as virtual slave labourers, and missionaries risked their lives to stop them. It is also a tale of a woman torn between her love for God and the work she feels called to do, and her love for a man determined to make his fortune. Vincent Smith grew up in an industrial town in England and moved to Australia when he was sixteen. It was then that he fell under the spell of the islands of the South West Pacific and their turbulent history. For the past half century he has served as a minister and chaplain to the Australian army, police and emergency services; some of it in the places where this story is set.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emergent so-called “Fourth Industrial Revolution” is regarded by some as a panacea for bringing about development to Africans. This book dismisses this flawed reasoning. Surfacing how “investors” are actually looting and plundering Africa; how the industrial internet of things, the gig economies, digital economies and cryptocurrencies breach African political and economic sovereignty, the book pioneers what can be called anticipatory economics – which anticipate the future of economies. It is argued that the future of Africans does not necessarily require degrowth, postgrowth, postdevelopment, postcapitalism or sharing/solidarity economies: it requires attention to age-old questions about African ownership and control of their resources. Investors have to invest in ensuring that Africans own and control their resources. Further, it is pointed out that the historical imperial structural creation of forced labour is increasingly morphing into what we call the structural creation of forced leisure which is no less lethal for Africans. Because both the structural creation of forced labour and the structural creation of forced leisure are undergirded by transnational neo-imperial plunder, theft, robbery, looting and dispossession of Africans, this book goes beyond the simplistic arguments that Euro-America developed due to the industrial revolutions.
