Book Synopsis Polymer Mechanochemistry by : Roman Boulatov
Download or read book Polymer Mechanochemistry written by Roman Boulatov and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-10-17 with total page 443 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The series Topics in Current Chemistry presents critical reviews of the present and future trends in modern chemical research. The scope of coverage is all areas of chemical science including the interfaces with related disciplines such as biology, medicine and materials science. The goal of each thematic volume is to give the non-specialist reader, whether in academia or industry, a comprehensive insight into an area where new research is emerging which is of interest to a larger scientific audience. Each review within the volume critically surveys one aspect of that topic and places it within the context of the volume as a whole. The most significant developments of the last 5 to 10 years are presented using selected examples to illustrate the principles discussed. The coverage is not intended to be an exhaustive summary of the field or include large quantities of data, but should rather be conceptual, concentrating on the methodological thinking that will allow the non-specialist reader to understand the information presented. Contributions also offer an outlook on potential future developments in the field. Review articles for the individual volumes are invited by the volume editors. Readership: research chemists at universities or in industry, graduate students.

Book Synopsis Mechanochemical Synthesis of Composite Materials by : Zulkhair A. Mansurov
Download or read book Mechanochemical Synthesis of Composite Materials written by Zulkhair A. Mansurov and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-08-01 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mechanochemical treatment is one of the promising directions of the chemical and technological processes of obtaining a new substance as a result of the transformation of mechanical energy into the chemical-physical processes of system restructuring. The peculiarity of the state of solid matter because of intense mechanical action is determined not only by its destruction, i.e., dispersing and obtaining a powder material with a high and active surface, but also by the accumulation of defects in the entire volume of particles, which increases their reactivity. This book presents the results of many years of research on the mechanochemical synthesis of composites, consisting of inorganic and organic components, obtained by the scientific team at the Institute of Combustion Problems, Kazakhstan. It begins with the general ideas about the mechanochemical process and the phenomena and further discusses the main provisions of the structural rearrangement and modification of the surface of dispersible particles.

Book Synopsis Macromolecular Chemistry-11 by : H. Eisenberg
Download or read book Macromolecular Chemistry-11 written by H. Eisenberg and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Macromolecular Chemistry — 11 is a collection of lectures presented at the International Symposium on Macromolecules (The Third Aharon Katzir-Katchalsky Conference) held in Jerusalem, Israel, on July 13-18, 1975. The papers explore a wide range of topics related to macromolecular chemistry, including polyelectrolytes, biologically active synthetic polymers, and spans of polymer chains. The use of polymers as chemical reagents is also considered. This book is comprised of 19 chapters and begins with an introduction to the close relation between polyelectrolytes and hydrophilic colloids. A survey of polyelectrolyte knowledge that has accumulated since about 1940 is also presented. The discussion then turns to biologically active synthetic polymers; polymers and other composites; theories of the condensed polymer state; polymer adsorption inferred from electrical double layer measurements; and mobility and conductivity of ions in and into polymeric solids. The structure and viscoelastic properties of ion-containing polymers in the solid state are also examined, along with the use of graphite insertion compounds as chemical reagents in organic chemistry. The results of research on chemical modification of cellulose are also presented. This monograph will be of interest to chemists.
Book Synopsis Engineering of Human Tissues and Implants by : Frederick H. Silver
Download or read book Engineering of Human Tissues and Implants written by Frederick H. Silver and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-05-20 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text presents information on biological control systems, mechanotransduction, tissue structure, and function, as well as properties that can be integrated together to provide improved implant and device designs. This information is needed to develop new diagnostic tests and instruments that provide early diagnostic tests and treatments for diseases. Engineering of Human Tissues and Implants: An Evolutionary Approach to Implant Design provides basic scientific information on the evolutionary design of tissues and organs that are a result of living in a gravitational field. Much of the useful information that is available for the design of implants is based on tissue structure and function derived from light and electron microscopy observations. However, this information is not enough for developing new designs of implants and medical devices since much of the biological response to implants is based on understanding the biological control systems and mechanotransduction that drive many of the responses seen with implanted devices. The book also introduces mechanotransduction as it relates to implant design with an overview of materials and their use in applications that include those materials designed to treat wounds, burns, facial, hernial, ophthalmic, oral, cardiovascular, and tendon/ligaments. This book is intended for biomedical science and engineering students who are learning about artificial implants and medical device development. It will also be of significance to other engineering majors interested in the design of devices for diagnoses and measuring of physiological parameters, as well as to clinicians and researchers who are interested in mechanobiology.
Book Synopsis Aging and Stabilization of Polymers by : M. B. Neiman
Download or read book Aging and Stabilization of Polymers written by M. B. Neiman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The need for a broad development of the production of polymer ma terials has become evident. All these materials are subject to various types of aging (destruction); hence, stabilizers which permit the stor age, reprocessing, and use of polymer materials without any appreci able change in their properties must be introduced into them. In recent years, this problem of stabilizing polymers has attracted the attention of many scientists and technologists, both in the USSR and abroad. The scientific basis of the foreign studies will be found in a number of theo retical premises, but chiefly the theory of chain reactions with un branched chains. In the Soviet Union, the concepts of Academician N. N. Semenov on chain reactions with degenerate branches have become the starting point of theoretical studies of the stabilization and destruction of polymers. Soviet scientists have developed a theory of critical concentrations of antioxidants and have shown that the processes of stabilization have a very complex chemical character. The nature of the polymers them selves greatly affects these processes and consequently, different stabil izers are required for polymers of different structures. In addition, it has been shown that the antioxidants used thus far can not only cause chain termination, but can also initiate oxidation and give rise to de generate branches.
