These marriage notices cover the ENTIRE state of Tennessee for the most part, beginning with the earliest ones in 1794 in the Knoxville Gazette. The total number of such marriage notices is approximately 12,000 or more and contains such information as: name of bride's father, often times both bride and groom's place of residence (county and state); sometimes the groom's occupation; date of marriage and where it was performed and sometimes the officiating minister's name; ages of Bride and Groom. A brief resume of states other than Tennessee where such marriages were performed or the former home of either the bride or groom: AL, AR, CT, FL, KY, MS, MO, MD, LA, IA, IN, IL, NY, NC, NJ, OH, PA, SC, VT, WV, & VA to cite but a few. Newspapers from which these Marriages have been taken: The Knoxville Gazette, The Daily Republican Banner, The Western Weekly Review (Franklin, TN.), The Politician and Weekly Nashville, The Nashville True Whig and Weekly Commercial Advertiser, National Banner, Impartial Review and Cumberland repository, Nashville.

Their ancestors and descendants have lived in North Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Georgia, and other areas throughout the United States.
