Download or read book Cooperative Learning & Social Change written by and published by James Lorimer & Company. This book was released on 1990-01-01 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Célestin Freinet (1896-1966) spent his whole life teaching in small rural elementary schools in the south of France. From this base, he pioneered an international movement for radical educational reform through cooperative learning. Freinet's Modern School Movement has provided the network through which a broad community of teachers have come to know his remarkable variety of innovative classroom approaches: the importance of creative and useful work for children learning and close observation of how they do it; a direct appreciation for the natural world; a commitment to developing appropriate technologies for the classroom; and a strong emphasis on linking school and community with the wider issues of social justice and action. Cooperative Learning and Social Change offers an introduction to a powerful pedagogical method that remains fresh and relevant today. An Our Schools/Our Selves book.
Book Synopsis Variations stylistiques by : Diane M. Dansereau
Download or read book Variations stylistiques written by Diane M. Dansereau and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2016-02-23 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This advanced level course book teaches stylistic variations of modern French grammar using examples from films and interviews as well as other authentic texts. Written entirely in French, it focuses on the most difficult grammar points and their usage, rather than on their formation. Variations stylistiques includes an abundance of oral and written exercises that are practical, relevant, creative, and fun, encouraging students to use the grammar in meaningful contexts. By highlighting the many linguistic variants employed by native speakers, Dansereau provides an engaging alternative to traditional French grammar textbooks. An ancillary Web site features quizzes and other valuable resources for instructors.

Book Synopsis Phenomenological Psychology by : J.J. Kockelmans
Download or read book Phenomenological Psychology written by J.J. Kockelmans and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1987-10-31 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past decades many books and essays have been written on phenomeno logical psychology. Some of these publications are historical in character and were designed to give the reader an idea of the origin, meaning, and function of phenom enological psychology and its most important trends. Others are theoretical in nature and were written to give the reader an insight into the ways in which various authors conceive of phenomenological psychology and how they attempt. to justify their views in light of the philosophical assumptions underlying their conceptions. Finally, there are a great number of publications in which the authors do not talk about phenomenological psychology, but rather try to do what was described as possible and necessary in the first two kinds of publications. Some of these at tempts to do the latter have been quite successful; in other cases the results have 1 been disappointing. This anthology contains a number of essays which I have brought together for the explicit purpose of introducing the reader to the Dutch school in phenomenological psychology. The Dutch school occupies an important place in the phenomenological move ment as a whole. Buytendijk was one of the first Dutch scholars to contribute to the field, and for several decades he remained the central figure of the school.

Book Synopsis The European Language Portfolio by : David Little
Download or read book The European Language Portfolio written by David Little and published by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The European Language Portfolio aims to foster the development of learner autonomy, intercultural awareness and plurilingualism. Teachers of particular languages working on their own can use the ELP to promote learner autonomy, but the goals of intercultural awareness and plurilingualism invite us to use the ELP in all foreign language classes at all levels in the school. The guide introduces the language education policy that underpins the ELP, explores the key concepts that it embodies, and explains how to plan, implement and evaluate whole-school ELP projects. The ten case studies published on the project website illustrate various dimensions of ELP use and include practical suggestions and activities for teachers and learners.
