Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are so many things that happen to us throughout our lifetime. Things that we have no control over. Things that we don't plan for. In this book I pull back the curtain and reveal all the messy details of my past. Things that would make people cringe at the thought of having to live through. The death of a loved one, a car accident, a divorce, etc. We don't plan for these types of events to happen, but they can happen to anyone. And when they do, they can often leave us wandering around lost in darkness. It's painful, overwhelming, and unsettling. But I have learned that even during those times of darkness there are slivers of light that streak across the sky like lightning. Their presence is inconceivable and breathtakingly beautiful all at once. Moments of Grace. Moments where God whispers, "Even here, lost to darkness, there is still something beautiful to behold." I grew up in an unconventional family, fought through toxic relationships, and suffered the agony of realizing my son would no longer be here with me. Yet, throughout those very dark moments of my past, I've had God flicker magnificent specs of grace all throughout my life. Even when I didn't see it so clearly, He was working things out in the background. I don't know where you're at in life or which chapter your story is on, but my hope and prayer is that sharing my messy life details might bring you peace and hope. If you're walking around lost to darkness, my hope is that this book may leave you enlightened by grace.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an original account of an ancient, alternative form of ‘negative’ reason which stands in antithesis to its modern instrumental form which has dominated thinking about the pursuit of human development since the Enlightenment. It advances arguments for the recovery of such reason as a spiritual and therapeutic way of life and demonstrates that it is impossible to fully appreciate the Christian apophatic tradition without investigating the intricacies of its philosophical heritage. The aim of this discussion is the retrieval and rediscovery of invaluable insights from ancient philosophy in the universal pursuit of happiness. The book’s re-appropriation of the ‘negative’ philosophical and theological articulation of the pursuit of eudaimonia offers to redirect those living in the twenty-first century towards the significance of the Christian apophatic ascent and in so doing to assist them in uncapping the wellsprings of human passion, desire and happiness.

They are thrown together in a race to find safety in a world where the rules of nature have suddenly been rewritten and the line between life and death has reversed direction. As they Zoe and Boggs flee the city, it’s not long before they realize the end of the world is upon them. Stopping at a gas station on the outskirts of town, they cross paths with a lone man named Gus who will become critical to their survival. Together the three head to the mountains, where their new lives amongst the dead begin. Others will join them, and others will leave them. They will face horrors and tragedies beyond imagine. They will grow together, and they will break into pieces together. The dead will evolve. The Grace Series is best read in order & intended for mature audiences only. Book excerpt: In this revised edition of a longtime bestselling anthology of Christian mysticism, editors Louis Dupre and James Wiseman bring together selections from the writings of twenty-three of the most important Christian mystics, from Origen of Alexandria in the third century to Thomas Merton in the twentieth. This edition retains most of the authors included in the first addition, but has replaced some authors from that edition with ones that will be of greater interest to readers today, e.g., Francis and Clare of Assisi, Francis de Sales and Jane de Chantal, and Evelyn Underhill. A general introduction discusses the place of mysticism within the Christian life as a whole, while individual chapter introductions place the mystical writers in their historical context and relate their works to others in the anthology. In addition, the editors have completely updated the bibliographies at the end of each chapter.Students and teachers of spirituality, as well as persons interested in their own spiritual growth, will welcome this popular revised resource, because it makes readily available in one volume major works by important Christian mystical writers. Like its predecessor, it is sure to be welcomed in the academic world and spiritual and devotional circles.

Book excerpt: #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The groundbreaking account of life after death that has become a source of comfort, inspiration, and solace to millions “I felt a surge of energy, and my spirit was suddenly drawn through my chest and pulled upward. My first impression is that I was free. . . .” On the night of November 19, 1973, following surgery, thirty-one-year-old wife and mother Betty J. Eadie died. This is her extraordinary story of the events that followed, her astonishing proof of life after physical death. She saw more, perhaps than any other person has seen before and shares her almost photographic recollections of the remarkable details. Compelling, inspiring, and infinitely reassuring, her vivid account gives us a glimpse of the peace and unconditional love that awaits us all. More important, Betty's journey offers a simple message that can transform our lives today, showing us our purpose and guiding us to live the way we were meant to—joyously, abundantly, and with love. Praise for Embraced by the Light “The most detailed and spellbinding near-death experience I have ever heard.”—Kimberly Clark-Sharp, president, Seattle International Association of Near-Death Studies
