This book was released on 2003-05 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is for all the genuine "not good enough" people. Those least likely to succeed. The ones always chosen last or not at all. If you are an expert at blending into walls this book is for you.I have good news. You are chosen. Chosen and destined to succeed, and you were chosen before the foundation of the world. You are what the Bible calls the "poor in spirit, " which means you qualify as an heir to all the riches in the kingdom of heaven. If you are truly bankrupt in self-esteem, wonderful! You pass the test. The kingdom of heaven is on its way to earth and kingdom values are downside up. Last in line goes in first, the poor are rich, the simple are wise.So if you are self-confident and secure, certain you can make it all by yourself, this book won't make any sense at all. (Unless, of course, you're faking it.)

Readers will gain a clearer understanding that prayer life and devotional time is not where we do all the talking and God does all the listening. As a helpful spiritual discipline in the art of learning how to converse with God, this book also includes end of chapter questions that encourage the young to mature Christian to use the book as a personal devotion or in a small group setting. Pastor Bryan & Cindy Mann Mt. Victory United Methodist Church, Gardners, Pennsylvania "Lordship through Friendship looks at the question: what is my relationship with God? Rita shares her conversations with God and His responses, through unusual parables that led to a fuller understanding of His love and direction. Readers feel a kinship with her questions, misunderstandings, growth in the Lord, and will better understand His plan of friendship for their lives." Terry Griffin, On-Line News Editor "I'm not sure all people grasp that our salvation is based upon having a relationship with God. I often need tangible examples to help me spiritually mature. WOW-an entire book of examples-fantastic!" Rick McCauslin, Radio Station Manger "While Rita's targeted audience is Christian, her themes have wide appeal; her metaphors are fresh and clear, and her provocative prose is inspiring." Joan W., Professor Emerita Rita Sullivan has an M.S. in Organizational Development and Leadership, and a B.A. in Communication-Journalism. Lordship through Friendship is Rita's first book, although her written works have been published many times since 1986. She instructs adult continuing education courses on creative writing and writing for publication at her local community college. She conducts drama seminars, having written and directed more than 80 plays and skits in His church. Rita and her husband live in rural Pennsylvania.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I was writing this story, I gave myself the assignment to ask 50 people whether or not they believed that black butterflies were messengers of death. Out of those 50, 39 responded yes, and some affirmed having had personal experiences with black butterflies. Some would say that few minutes after having seen them, they had received news that a family member or somebody they knew had passed away. Others assured that it was the spirit of a family member that had come to visit them. Only 11 said that they did not believe and had never heard anything regarding that. Since ancient times, many cultures have had that belief that black butterflies are messengers of death. However there are also some countries where they believe they bring good luck. What do you believe? Are black butterflies messengers of death or not? Or are you one of the people who believe that when they see one it announces good fortune. Surely if a black butterfly has ever entered your home and shortly after you received news that close one had passed away, you probably believe it. But if more than once they've entered in your home, and nobody has ever passed away, then you probably don't believe in it. In this story strange things happened to two women who widowed, and they were convinced that black butterflies were behind everything that happened to them. One of them almost ends up killed by stones thrown by a whole town; the other after becoming a widow decided to mourn for her whole life until she died. In the end one of them survived being buried by a bunch of stones. The other one changed her mind and decided to take off her mourning dress, and both ended up getting married again. If you want to know what they went through how is it that in the end they changed their minds and got married again, I invite you to read this exciting story full of mystery, suspense and action and... why not, a bit of humor as well.

Book excerpt: Discover the power, joy, and love of living a present, authentic, and intentional life despite a world full of distractions. If technology is the new addiction, then multitasking is the new marching order. We check our email while cooking dinner, send a text while bathing the kids, and spend more time looking into electronic screens than into the eyes of our loved ones. With our never-ending to-do lists and jam-packed schedules, it's no wonder we're distracted. But this isn't the way it has to be. Special education teacher, New York Times bestselling author, and mother Rachel Macy Stafford says enough is enough. Tired of losing track of what matters most in life, Rachel began practicing simple strategies that enabled her to momentarily let go of largely meaningless distractions and engage in meaningful soul-to-soul connections. Finding balance doesn't mean giving up all technology forever. And it doesn't mean forgoing our jobs and responsibilities. What it does mean is seizing the little moments that life offers us to engage in real and meaningful interaction. In these pages, Rachel guides you through how to: Acknowledge the cost of your distraction Make purposeful connection with your family Give your kids the gift of your undivided attention Silence your inner critic Let go of the guilt from past mistakes And move forward with compassion and gratefulness So join Rachel and go hands-free. Discover what happens when you choose to open your heart--and your hands--to the possibilities of each God-given moment.
